It was Kelvin and Adeline.
Summer planned to treat them like thin air, but Kelvin unexpectedly called out to her.
"Summer!"
He strode toward her, his entire being radiating a suffocating, icy pressure.
His opening line was an undeniable interrogation. "Did you steal Adeline's speech from the lounge?"
Blindsided by the accusation, Summer let out a scoff of pure disbelief.
"What does Ms. Ashcroft's missing speech have to do with me?"
She spoke coldly, having zero desire to entertain a man acting like a rabid dog.
But Kelvin suddenly grabbed her wrist, yanking her roughly against him.
"Adeline's speech is about to start. I'm warning you—hand it over now, or you'll face the consequences."
"What are you going to do, Kelvin? Torture a confession out of me?"
The way Summer looked at him held nothing but an endless, bone-deep chill.
Through countless suspicions, slanders, and interrogations, her love for him had long been ground to dust.
Never having been on the receiving end of such a glacial stare from her, Kelvin felt a jolt in his chest.
Was she actually unfazed by his anger?
Usually, whenever he lost his temper, Summer was always the first to back down. She had never defied him before.
Had he actually misunderstood her this time?
He furrowed his brows, a flicker of self-doubt creeping in.
At that moment, Adeline stepped forward, cradling her pregnant belly. She spoke in a soft, gentle tone. "Kelvin, I think even if one of the students saw Ms. Hayes take the speech, there must be some sort of misunderstanding."
Her gaze then fell to where his hand was wrapped tightly around Summer's wrist.
"Kelvin, you need to be gentler. Look, you're bruising her wrist."
