Unloving Him: Marrying the Rival Tycoon novel Chapter 6

Summer froze and slowly looked up, meeting Kelvin's freezing, furious glare.

Beside him stood Adeline, looking absolutely radiant, clinging to his arm like the perfect partner.

Summer pressed her lips together. Fate had a sickening sense of humor.

"What are you doing here? Who told you to come?"

His harsh, accusatory tone immediately drew the attention of the surrounding students.

Dozens of eyes fixed on Summer, analyzing and judging her every flaw, making her face burn with humiliation.

"I'm not here for you."

Despite the intense public scrutiny, Summer kept her chin high and her voice perfectly steady.

Kelvin clearly didn't believe a word of it, his frown deepening.

Sensing his irritation, Adeline immediately played the peacemaker. "Kelvin, don't be so hard on her. She's just here because she cares about you so much."

While sounding sympathetic, her words masterfully painted Summer as a desperate, obsessed stalker.

Yesterday she had staged a dramatic walkout, and today she just happened to bump into him at his alma mater's centennial. Kelvin was convinced she was playing some twisted, manipulative game.

He looked at her with blatant disgust. "Go home. You don't belong here."

Didn't belong here? Did he honestly believe her entire existence was reduced to scrubbing floors and waiting on him hand and foot?

Summer took a deep breath, swallowing the lump in her throat, and let out a cold laugh. "You think far too highly of yourself, Kelvin. I have a job to do. Move."
