Chelsea smiled.
"Alright." Chelsea picked up her wine glass and clinked it against Seraphina's. "I'll help you."
Seraphina smiled faintly, picked up her glass, and took a sip, her gaze drifting into the heavy night outside.
Seraphina and Chelsea walked out of the private restaurant. Chelsea turned to her. "Come on, let's go grab a couple of drinks. To celebrate your second-place win."
Seraphina's lips curved. "What's there to celebrate about second place?"
"Second place is still a prize." Chelsea casually opened the car door. "Besides, we both know how you lost first place. That's exactly why we need to celebrate. Celebrate that you crawled out of that hellhole."
Seraphina didn't refuse again and slid into the car.
Chelsea chose a famous bar in Northport, known for its privacy and sparse, exclusive clientele.
They took a small private booth. Chelsea expertly ordered drinks and snacks, then leaned back into the sofa, totally relaxing.
"I'm going to the restroom." Seraphina stood up, patted her pockets, and paused. "I left my phone in the car."
"Want me to go get it?" Chelsea asked.
Seraphina shook her head. "I'll go. You pick the music."
She pushed the door open, walked down the hallway, and headed downstairs.
The bar's lighting was dim and seductive.
Seraphina stepped out the front doors, grabbed her phone from the car, and turned back.
The hallway was long, lined with private rooms. Faint music and laughter seeped through the cracks of the doors.
As she approached a corner, her footsteps suddenly stopped.
A few steps ahead, in the shadows of the corridor, stood two people.
The man had his back to her, tall and broad-shouldered.
He had his head bowed, one hand pressed against the wall, the other wrapped around the waist of the woman in front of him.
