She adjusted the curvature by a fraction of a degree and shifted the gemstone settings back by two millimeters.

She reviewed the changes, frowned, hit undo, and tried again.

The light outside the window gradually faded, and the office lights flickered on automatically.

Completely oblivious, Seraphina tweaked the design over and over.

A small smile curved her lips as she closed the window and stood up to pack her things.

The office space was completely empty.

Seraphina grabbed her purse, turned off the lamp at her desk, and headed toward the elevators.

She reached the elevator bank and pressed the button.

The moment the doors slid open, she looked up and froze.

A man stood inside the elevator.

He wore a sharp black suit that accentuated his tall, lean frame. His handsome face was devoid of expression, yet his mere presence radiated a domineering aura that made it hard to look directly at him.

Seraphina's mind went blank for a second.

She recognized that face; she had seen him on television.

This was the boss of The Cole Group, the heir to the Cole family.

He was also Dominic's uncle, the most untouchable figure among all of the Lockwood family's relatives.

In the six years she had been married into the Lockwood family, she had never once met him.

Dominic almost never brought her to any family gatherings.

To the Lockwoods, she was just someone who cooked and took care of the kid.

Seraphina reeled in her thoughts, stepping slightly to the side to give him room, her voice calm.

"Good evening, Boss."

Gideon's gaze swept over her for barely a second before he offered a faint, low hum of acknowledgment.

Without another word, he stepped out of the elevator, his strides steady, never looking back.

Seraphina stood rooted to the spot, watching his retreating figure disappear at the end of the hallway before secretly letting out a breath.
