Seraphina still didn't say a word. Beside her, Chelsea's face was thunderous. If Seraphina hadn't been holding her back, she would have lunged forward and hit someone.
Completely oblivious to the danger, Yvette continued her tirade, her tone growing increasingly caustic.
"What's the matter? Did you hear my brother bought a new place here and decided you wanted to crash for free?"
Her lips twisted into a triumphant, mocking smile.
"Too bad for you, my brother bought that house for Cynthia. It has absolutely nothing to do with you."
Seraphina's fingers curled inward slightly.
A new house.
Dominic had bought a new house in Laurel Heights.
And he had bought it for Cynthia.
Was Cynthia coming back?
Her hands unconsciously clenched into tight fists at her sides.
Cynthia was Dominic's childhood sweetheart, the one true love he had never gotten over.
Everyone knew it.
Everyone said that if it hadn't been for Seraphina, the one walking down the aisle with Dominic would have been Cynthia...
And back then, after catching Seraphina and Dominic in bed together, Cynthia had immediately bought a plane ticket and fled the country.
Six years had passed. Was she finally returning?
Seraphina knew she shouldn't be surprised. Cynthia's return was inevitable.
For all these years, Dominic had never felt a shred of affection for her, yet he had never managed to forget Cynthia. It made perfect sense that he would buy a house for her.
But hearing it spoken aloud still felt like a heavy blow straight to her chest. It hurt.
She lowered her eyelashes, taking a slow, deep breath to steady her emotions.
Seeing her silence, Yvette assumed she had struck a nerve and laughed with unbridled malice.
