Professor Vane walked up to her, looking her up and down. "You've lost weight, but you look sharp."

Seraphina sniffled, fighting back the moisture in her eyes.

Professor Vane's gaze swept over Dominic and Cynthia, but he didn't ask any questions. He merely retracted his gaze and patted Seraphina's shoulder.

"Come, let's head over there."

Julian walked up as well, standing firmly beside Seraphina, intentionally blocking Dominic's line of sight.

Seraphina nodded, walked over to her booth to grab her bag and tablet, and didn't spare Dominic another glance.

She followed Professor Vane and Julian, turning her back and walking away.

Dominic stood frozen in place, watching her retreating figure, his frown growing deeper and tighter.

Cynthia's gaze was also glued to that fading silhouette.
