Those ideas... the ones she had written down in her papers, the ones she could only ponder alone in the dead of night.
The ideas she thought she would never have the chance to bring to life in this lifetime.
Now, there was a chance to make them a reality?
"Julian, are you serious?"
"When have I ever lied to you?" Julian laughed, adjusting his glasses. "That's why I said you should have come back sooner. If you had joined us a year ago, we might have already produced results by now."
Julian looked at her, the laughter in his eyes gradually fading into a deeper, more somber expression.
"Sera... Have you been doing okay these past few years?"
Seraphina's fingers twitched slightly.
"I'm fine."
Julian studied her. His lips parted as if he wanted to say something, but he ultimately swallowed his words.
He picked up his teacup, took a sip, and seamlessly changed the subject, his tone becoming light and breezy once again.
"Our research team just moved into a new building. The facilities are infinitely better than what we had back then. And the Professor always kept an office open for you."
"All your old manuscripts and data files are still there. The Professor packed them up in boxes and stacked them neatly in the cabinet."
Seraphina's eyes turned entirely red.
Her voice came out hoarse. "The Professor... he's too good to me."
"Obviously," Julian nodded like it was a universal truth. "You're his favorite student. If he doesn't treat you well, who will?"
The two of them chatted a bit more. A moment later, Julian received a phone call. He quickly turned to Seraphina.
"The Professor is here. I'm going to go grab him. Wait here, and don't wander off, okay?"
Seraphina nodded. "Okay."
Julian grabbed his jacket and strode quickly toward the entrance.
As Julian's figure disappeared down the corridor, the booth fell quiet.
Seraphina picked up her teacup, took a sip, and looked out the window.
Right at that moment, a few people walked through the main entrance of the lobby.
Seraphina's fingers froze.
At the entrance, Dominic was holding Lily's hand with one arm, while his other arm... was being held by Cynthia.
