Lauren stared at Seraphina's departing back, a flicker of resentment flashing in her eyes.

She gritted her teeth, then turned back to Dominic, making her voice soft and gentle. "Dominic, I don't mind that she fought with me over the dress. I just feel so bad that she treats you and the child this way."

She lowered her eyelashes. "She didn't leave you an ounce of dignity today, spending your money so ruthlessly, and in front of all those people..."

Before she could finish, she shook her head, looking as though she couldn't bear to say another word.

Dominic's lips pressed into a tight line, his face dark and cold. He didn't respond.

His gaze remained fixed on the elevators, his expression unreadable.

Seeing his reaction, Lauren's heart sank slightly. She quickly curved her lips into a smile and turned to Lily.

Crouching down, she pinched Lily's cheek. "Don't cry, Lily. I'll take you home and make you something delicious, okay? Fried chicken, fries, and your favorite soda."

Lily's eyes instantly lit up, her tears turning into a bright smile. "Really! I want to eat right now!"

She grabbed Lauren's hand, then reached out to tug at Dominic's sleeve. "Daddy, let's go home! I want to eat yummy food!"

Dominic's brow furrowed, his tone taking on a strict edge. "Have you forgotten how much your stomach hurt last time?"

Lily's smile froze. She shrank back, lowering her head in silence.

Seeing this, Lauren quickly changed her tune, her voice as soothing as a lullaby. "Then I'll make you a warm bowl of creamy soup, just the way you like it. It'll be delicious, and you'll love it."

Dominic checked his watch, his voice detached. "It's getting late. You should just head home first."

Lauren froze, her pleasant expression nearly crumbling as she looked down at Lily.

Lily clung to Lauren's hand, her lips jutted out in a heavy pout.

Dominic shot her a flat look, and only then did Lily reluctantly let go, murmuring a quiet, "Bye, Lauren."
