Her mouth found my throat as her fingers raked up and down my sweater as if hating the barrier of fabric between her skin and mine.

“Sienna!” *My voice came out strained, utterly wrecked, and nothing like the confident tone I usually managed around her.

She either didn’t hear me or thought it was me calling out to her because she inched closer, her hands grabbing my shoulders, half tearing and yanking the sweater aside.

This time she actually kissed my chest directly, without anything between her lips and my skin and I shivered like I had never been kissed in my life.

I scolded myself but she didn’t stop. Her mouth closed over my Adam’s apple, and then she flicked her tongue

She was still half–asleep, and definitely delirious with whatever combination of dreams and medication had brought her here because she had never done this before.

“She is not awake and you know that.”

“Her body is awake enough.” A dark, amused ripple moved through him. “Listen to her. She is trying to get under your clothes. Her wolf wants this too, so you better help her wolf surface rather than trying to suppress her. Because her wolf will be very angry when she awakens and I will have to face the brunt of her anger for no fault of mine”

Sienna made a soft sound against my skin and pressed closer. My hands fisted in the sheets.

“If I touch her now,” I said through gritted teeth, “I will not stop and you know that.”

“Who said you have to?”

“She did, you moron! She asked for a test, not a claiming. She is on suppressants and half–delirious and will hate both of us when she wakes up if I take advantage of this. Do you want her to wake up and run back to Aaron like she always does?”

Fang snarled, the sound vibrating through my skull. “You speak of rules while her mouth is on your pulse. You speak of her hating us while she is clinging to you like she is afraid you will disappear. Stop lying to yourself?

“I am trying to protect her.”

“You are trying to protect yourself,” he corrected sharply. “You are terrified of what happens when she looks at you the way she is holding you right now. You are terrified of wanting something you cannot control. So you hide behind her rules and call it honour.”

“I swear I’ll lock you up inside for months” I snarled.

“You can’t do that with the succession talks going on and the possibility of them asking you to demonstrate your alpha wolf being very real” Fang pushed closer to the surface, testing the edge of my control.

“You have been locking me down since the night she held the knife to your throat. Every time her scent rises you brutally shove me back. Every time she looks at you too long you pretend you feel nothing. I am done being quiet.”

Sienna’s fingers curled into my sweater and tugged. Her mouth found the underside of my jaw.

I exhaled hard through my nose.

“If you push any harder, I will lose it. Is that what you want? To scare her and make her run?”

“I want her,” Fang stated clearly. “I want what she keeps offering and then taking away. If I were you, I would never give her a chance to snatch it away from me again”

That was the problem with wolves, they only understood territory and possession. Our animalistic side made us strong and mighty but sometimes, it also reduced us to pure physical needs.

When logic and reasoning failed with him, I tried another approach.
