Chapter 184
Sienna
“Dont you know?” The doctor adjusted his glasses.
Connor straightened. “What do I not know?”
“Uh doctor, it’s okay…” I tried to intervene but he shook his head.
“No, no, miss Sienna. He should know
“She didn’t leave your side even for a second the entire night even when the nurses and your brother asked her to rest.”
“Oh?” Connor looked at me curiously.
“Yes, she was crying a lot and worried sick about you. She would ask me and the nurses about your condition every half an hour…”
Connor tilted his head, smiling deviously at me.
“Damn, you didn’t tell me that, Speckles”
“I just didn’t want your condition…to worsen” I shrugged, trying to play it cool.
“Ahh no don’t be so modest, Miss Sienna. You denied sleeping in the private room and stayed beside your alpha all night. You didn’t eat, didn’t even sleep in that bed next to you…”
He pointed at the intact bed with unruffled, smooth sheets the nurse had prepared for me yesterday.
“I…he had lost so much blood…”
Connor popped another grape in his mouth, apparently loving the flustered look on my face.
The doctor’s smile faltered a little.
“I heard stories of how brutal the trial was. I am a mere doctor and I have no say in how pack matters are handled but they really should not….”
He trailed off, apparently catching himself before he said something disrespectful about the pack elders.
He cleared his throat and then smiled at us again.
“But we also saw something positive. On one hand, the alpha protected you and on another…you stayed by him all night. Truly, a match made in heaven.”
I failed in forcing my eyes to not look at Connor who wriggled his brows at me, enjoying this conversation
too much.

“I was just….doing my duty”
“You told the alpha’s brother off as well.”
My eyes widened in panic as Connor obviously didn’t miss that line.
He grew even more interested in the conversation now.
“She did what?”
The fake sarcasm was gone from his voice, replaced with genuine curiosity.

The doctor saw my face and gave a sheepish smile. “I am sorry, with the trials and succession talks going on, it’s apparently a hot topic of discussion even in the pack hospital. The nurses love to gossip…”
“What did you even say to Aaron, Speckles?” He asked me directly, staring me in the eye restlessly.
“I just… its nothing”
Just then a nurse walked in through the main door. “Doctor, the patient from the…”
She began but trailed off upon seeing Connor sitting upright on the bed.
“Oh, alpha Connor, are you awake?”
Connor shrugged. “Apparently”
She gave him a hesitant smile and I noticed the way she smoothed her hair down.
“I was very worried…I mean we all were very worried about you.”
Connor gave her a small smile.
“No need to worry anymore”
She saw him smiling and took that as an invitation to come closer, placing her hands on the metal rod of his bed and gripping it a bit too nervously.
“I spent the whole night checking on you. I even offered several prayers to the Moon Goddess…”
Connor only nodded, “Thanks” and then moved a little, making the IV drip inserted in his veins snag a little.
He barely winced but she ran forward and grabbed his hand.
“Please, be careful, alpha”
Her face was inches away from Connor who blinked in surprise. She kept holding his hand and then fussed over the pillows, adjusted his sheets and did a whole lot of stuff that wasn’t needed.
“Rosa, what were you saying about the patient?”

The doctor asked and she seemed to realize there were other people in the room as well. She reluctantly let go of Connor’s arm.
“Oh, that’s nothing important. We saw the blood staining the arena floor last night… it was scary.”
She then looked over at Connor again. “Are you sure you are fine, alpha? Please call me if you need anything. My name is Rosa”
“Thanks Rosa but my girlfriend is here to look after me”
Rosa finally looked at me and her smile wavered.
“Oh, hi there”
Just a simple, forced hi. No luna title or even a ‘how are you’ question either.
I guessed she was just loyal to the alpha and her pack, not an outsider.
Connor noticed my expression and decided to lighten the mood.
“So, Rosa, our doctor here was telling me how the succession trials is a hot topic in here right now”
Rosa’s gaze flicked back to Connor and a wide smile blossomed on her face like she couldn’t be happier to have his attention on her.
“Yes, alpha. Most of us already are rooting for you. I personally think you are so handsom…honest… I mean and you… would be a great future leader for the pack”
Was she flirting with him right in front of me?
“Thank you for your vote of confidence. I also heard my dear girlfriend had a little discussion with my brother…”
I tried to warn Connor to not go there but he obviously wasn’t going to let this go.
“Oh yes” Rosa pushed her hair behind her ear again.
