"One hundred million dollars. I'll sign right now."
Jocelyn was planning to divorce him anyway. If she could walk away with a massive payout, why wouldn't she?
One hundred million could build schools for countless underprivileged children. It could fund medical treatments for people fighting to stay alive!
Seeing her agreement, Ursula hurriedly slid a document across the table.
It was a divorce agreement, and Carter's signature was already inked at the bottom.
Jocelyn stared at it. It was undeniably Carter's handwriting. "Did he tell you to negotiate this with me?"
"That's none of your business. All you need to know is that he wants this divorce just as much as you do. Now sign it," Ursula snapped, though a brief flash of guilt betrayed her.
Jocelyn lowered her eyes. In other words, Carter had no idea this document existed. She had no clue how Ursula had forged or tricked him into signing it, but frankly, she didn't care.
Picking up a pen, Jocelyn signed her name.
"There is a mandatory thirty-day waiting period before the divorce is finalized. Until then, you better keep your mouth shut. Don't you dare slip up in front of Carter!" Ursula warned.
Jocelyn raised an eyebrow. So she was supposed to keep the signed papers a secret from him?
"Fine," she agreed.
"Actually, one hundred million is too generous," Ursula muttered, immediately trying to backtrack. "An orphan like you should be grateful for two million."
She genuinely believed two million was too much for someone with no pedigree.
"If we took this to court, I'd be entitled to half of Carter's marital assets. If you think it’s too steep, how about I take 1.5 billion instead?" Jocelyn mocked coldly.
Ursula choked on her own breath, grinding her teeth furiously. "Fine! One hundred million it is, but no taking it back!"
