The Return of Special Forces Queen novel Chapter 7

Carter frowned in irritation. "A divorce? Just because my mom wouldn't let you bring the ashes inside?"

He sounded as if she were throwing a tantrum over a minor inconvenience.

The icy realization settled deep in Jocelyn's chest. She truly was a fool for ever holding out hope for this man.

"It's not just about that. It's about Yolande, too. We'll divorce, and then you can finally marry her," she said, her voice devoid of emotion.

"I told you, Yolande and I are just friends. Stop overthinking this," he snapped, clearly displeased.

Jocelyn almost laughed. No one with eyes believed they were just friends, yet he insisted on using the word to sugarcoat his blatant emotional affair!

"I'm exhausted. I have zero interest in playing this part anymore," she said softly.

There was no grief greater than a dead heart, and hers was completely dead to him.

Carter’s expression shifted. A sudden, terrifying sensation of losing control washed over him. For a split second, it genuinely felt like the woman standing before him was going to vanish from his life.

"If you're still feeling insecure, then let's have a baby," he blurted out.

"What?" Jocelyn stared at him in utter shock.

They had been married for three years, and he had never truly touched her. In the beginning, he claimed he was too focused on the startup and wanted their intimacy to happen naturally. She hadn't pushed it.

Over time, it simply became their normal. Even when sharing the same bed, he never laid a finger on her.

"We've been married for three years. It's time we started a family," Carter murmured, leaning in to press a soft kiss against her cheek.

Jocelyn felt a wave of tragic, pathetic irony.

Once, she had desperately wanted his child. But he had always brushed her off, claiming, 'I'm just not ready yet. Let's wait a little longer.'

And she had waited. Like a fool, she thought he was just nervous about fatherhood. She never realized he was preserving himself for his precious love!

She had convinced herself that her unwavering devotion would eventually melt his icy walls. Instead, she was nothing but a convenient joke.
