Chapter 67 

Smiling, Leah said, “Melanie, you really have a talent for this! Let me teach you how to read the score.” 

Melanie couldn’t help but marvel inwardly. No matter the era, education always mattered. Leah was clearly well–bred and far better than Sophie. It was evident that Anna and her husband had succeeded in raising her. 

“Thanks so much, Leah,” Melanie replied. 

Leah shook her head, indicating it was nothing. Then, she started teaching Melanie how to read music scores. 

It didn’t take long for Leah to realize that Melanie was a natural. After just four or five repetitions, the latter could read the score like a pro. 

Melanie practiced piano until evening. Anna and her husband, Peyton Jacobson, were surprised to see the two still sitting at the piano when they returned home. “How’s the learning going?” Anna asked., 

Before Melanie could respond, Leah jumped in, “Mom, Melanie is amazing! She can already play a complete piece!” 

Anna’s eyes widened in disbelief. She also played the piano and knew how difficult it was. Not only did it require memorization, but also intuition and time to develop the skill. 

It was impressive that Melanie was able to play a complete song in just one day, even though it was a simple one. 

“It’s all thanks to Leah’s great teaching,” Melanie said modestly. 

After some friendly chatter, Melanie felt it was only right to help out since she’d spent the day learning in their home. So, she volunteered to cook dinner. 

The Jacobson family enjoyed hers. Just as they were about to dig in, Edward pulled up in the car to pick Melanie up. 

He walked in just in time for dinner. 

Peyton couldn’t resist teasing, “Did you time that, Edward? Come join us and eat before heading back.” 

They were family, after all. Smiling, Edward took a seat at the table. During dinner, he naturally asked them about Melanie’s piano lesson. He was stunned when he heard how quick she was to learn. 

He wasn’t really surprised anymore. A series of delightful revelations had left him dazed. He could practically confirm now that Melanie was indeed a genius, a talent buried under rural education. 

After dinner, Edward thanked them and finally took Melanie home, 

It was getting late. Julia had already closed up the boutique and gone home. On the drive back, Edward couldn’t help but mention the day’s events. 

“I notice that you learn quickly. That’s a wonderful thing. If for you,” he said earnestly.

Melanie accepted the compliment. She didn’t need anything else at that moment, Once she shone at the upcoming meeting, she wanted to see who in the Grayson family would dare to look down on her again. 

The two returned home late that day, 

Meanwhile, Felicia had returned early and was busy formulating her plan. She noticed that the Graysons‘ impression of Melanie was improving, which was definitely not what she wanted to see. 

She wondered if Edward would even be able to divorce Melanie if things continued this way. 

After much consideration, she decided it was time to frame the latter, 

She knew Sophie had a gold locket in her bedroom. It was a birthday gift from her parents that she treasured and kept on her dressing table, She usually didn’t wear it to school for tear of losing it, and she only wore it on special occasions or holidays.
