Chapter 66 

Melanie didn’t hold back. She recounted the difficult life the original Melanie had lived, and Edward’s expression turned more serious. 

It had truly been a tough road for his wife. 

“Well, your mom does care about you. Even if you don’t want to send money back because of your dad, you should do so for her. Maybe send some supplies when you have time,” Edward suggested. 

Melanie agreed with his reasoning but felt that Christine wouldn’t benefit from it even if she sent something home. With all the terrible people in the Smith household, there was little chance that Christine would get any of it. 

She planned to get Christine out of that place entirely and away from that family when she had the means. 

“Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing,” she reassured Edward. 

After chatting for a while, Melanie set her book aside and suddenly brought up Anna.

A few days ago, Edward had mentioned that Winston’s wife loved to play the piano. Melanie figured it would be impressive to showcase her skills when the time 

came. 

Not many people could play the piano these days, but Melanie had decent skills. She could play the piano, dance, and even play the violin. She even won several awards for her piano playing. 

To prove herself, she had to deliver results. No one would dare underestimate her again if she could dazzle everyone at the meeting. 

However, whether it was speaking Encarian or playing the piano, she knew that she needed a learning process. Otherwise, it might raise too many questions. Edward didn’t realize how much Melanie valued the meeting. The thought of her wanting to learn piano moved him. 

He was the one putting pressure on her, and now here she was, making an effort to avoid embarrassing him. 

“You really don’t have to push yourself so hard. You’re already doing great with Encarian. That’s impressive enough. Not everyone can play the piano.” Melanie was juggling a lot. Although she was pregnant, she spent her evenings studying Encarian while selling clothes during the day. She was also working on getting her driver’s license. It was a whirlwind, and any average person would struggle, let alone a pregnant woman. 

“I just want to challenge myself. I love these things. Back in the countryside, I never had the chance to try them. Please let me go for it. I’m a fast learner! I might even pick it up before the meeting.” 

There was a hint of pleading in her voice. As her husband, how could Edward possibly stand in her way? 

Edward found himself agreeing, and his admiration for Melanie only grew. He felt that she surely would have been an extraordinary woman if she hadn’t grown up in the countryside without the opportunity to shine, 

The next day, Edward found some time to take Melanie over to Anna’s place, 

Anna was taken aback when Melanie told her that she wanted to learn piano. It wasn’t that she looked down on Melanie, but learning the piano wasn’t a simple skill to pick up on. It was a skill that required a solid foundation. 

But since Edward had made the request, she felt obligated to support it. Once Edward left, Anna called her daughter, Leah Jacobson, down to teach Melanie, 

Arsa had raised Leah well. The latter was polite and well–mannered. She wouldn’t let it show, even if she felt superior to Melanie. As she sat by the piano, she began to guide Melanie through the basics eamestly. 

Melenie already knew how to play but was simply putting on a show. At first, she played simple tunes like “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star“, 

However, it didn’t take long for Leah to notice how quickly Melanie picked it up. After just a couple of tries, Melanie was already playing quite well. Thas encouraged Leali, who felt she was doing a fantastic job as a teacher.
