Serendipity's Secret (Melanie) novel Chapter 65

Chapter 65

Edward told Melanie, Ignore them. Just focus on being yourself. You don’t have to listen to what they say.‘

After he finished washing up, he sat down with Melanie to study. He now had high hopes for her. What once seemed like a pipe dreamlearning Encarian in two weeksnow felt achievable

Not only would Melanie avoid embarrassment, but she might even impress everyone at the event. After all, even though the other leaderswives were well- educated, their Encarian wasn’t necessarily great

He didn’t expect Melanie to master it. She just needed to be good enough to attend events like these

After playing along for a while, Melanie remembered the telegram

Edward had shown it to her yesterday, but she hadn’t replied. She debated whether to respond the next day

The telegram from Smith Village was sent by Melanie’s original father, Frederick Smith

He demanded that she help the Hawke family secure a business deal withAnna. The message implied that they wouldn’t forgive her if Melanie didn’t cooperate. It also reminded her not to forget her roots and to send financial support back to them

When Melanie read the telegram, she had scoffed and tossed it aside

Janet was surprisingly persistent, even going so far as to send a telegram to her home. Frederick was also such a fool. Back when the Hawkes first approached him, he couldn’t have cared less. But now, with just one telegram, he was suddenly eager to please

The Smiths really thought they could still manipulate her like she was the original Melanie

Out of her entire family, Melanie only had a decent impression of Christine. After all, Christine truly cared about her. When she left, Christine even came over to slip her two eggs with tears in her eyes. She truly felt for Melanie

On the other hand, Frederick and her other siblings were utterly heartless

Edward noticed Melanie lost in thought and asked, What’s on your mind?”

Melanie told him about the telegram. Make sure to tell Anna not to work with them.”

She could be quite stubborn. If they were close relatives who regularly kept in touch, she’d definitely lend a hand in situations like this

But with a family like the Hawkes, it was already good enough that she didn’t go out of her way to make things worse

Okay,Edward replied

He would have done so even if Melanie didn’t tell him to do that. He could tell that Anna wasn’t particularly fond of the Hawke family

If Melanie were to try to pull some strings to advocate for the Hawke family, Anna might agree

Honestly, it’s fine if you want to send some money home. They’re your parents, after all. It’s normal to support them a little. You can take the money from me,Edward offered

Edward had naturally seen the telegram as well. He wouldn’t oppose it if Melanie wanted to send money home

After all, she was still the daughter of the Smith family, and it was normal for her to want to fulfill her obligations. Since Melanie was now his wife, they were a unit. Such expenses should rightly be his responsibility

It’s fine. They haven’t even finished spending the money they got for selling me, so why should I give them anything else?”

The original Melanie had never wanted to marry Elijah, especially since he was divorced with a child. As a pretty young woman, she felt she could find someone better

It was only out of desperation that she ended up marrying him. The Smiths had taken quite a bit of money from Elijah in return

Edward kaew that Melanie came from a troubled family, but he didn’t know all the details, Since it had come up in conversation that evening, they discussed it for a wintaile
