Chapter 62
Not many people knew the news about Tanner’s return. Felicia had heard it from Luca and Sapphire, who had clearly decided to keep it from Sophie for some
reason.
After rushing out, Sophie quickly regretted it. She felt that she hadn’t looked her best, so she hurried back to freshen up before heading out again.
Tanner was standing under a tree, smoking a cigarette. He wasn’t far from Melanie’s boutique. After finishing his cigarette and stomping it out, he swaggered inside the store.
Melanie had been about to greet the next customer but paused in surprise when she recognized him.
Julia was the first to approach, smiling. “Welcome, sir. Are you shopping for your girlfriend?” she asked.
Tanner shook his head and turned to Melanie. “Is this store yours?”
Melanie nodded. Remembering Edward’s advice, she didn’t feel like engaging with Tanner.
“What do you have for women in their 40s?” Tanner asked.
Since a potential sale was in front of her, there was no reason to refuse. Melanie helped him find a few items. “These pieces should work. You can select from these.

Tanner didn’t even look at the selections. “Wrap them all up.”
Julia’s jaw nearly dropped at his response. She recognized Tanner as the man she had run into in the neighboring city.
With more than a dozen items, even at a 20% discount, it would still add up to a few hundred bucks. She wondered if Tanner came from a wealthy family. Melanie shot Julia a look, wondering why the latter was simply standing there instead of getting to work
After Tanner handed over the money, Melanie still had a sense that he had something else to say. She wasn’t naive. She knew her looks could attract attention, and he was likely interested for that reason.
But to her surprise, he simply turned and left after he paid, showing no intention of chatting her up.
Melanie stood there, momentarily stunned. Even Julia was speechless. “Who’s that guy? His family must be loaded! How much have I earned in just one day?” Julia couldn’t help but count on her fingers. Although she wasn’t the boss, her commission alone would still amount to a substantial sum. Meanwhile, Sophie was hesitating at the entrance of the Ziegler residence, thinking about what she would say once she went inside.
When Tanner returned home with the clothes, he saw Sophie talking to herself. He watched as she even played both roles as if she were performing a comedy skit. Just as Sophie mustered the courage to step inside, a male voice came from behind her. “I haven’t seen you in years, and it seems that you’ve lost your edge.”
her face turned completely red. “Tanner, I thought you weren’t home!
Upon hearing the voice, Sophie quickly turned to look behind her. When she saw Tanner, Where have you been?”
Tanner looked at her with a teasing glint in his eyes. “Why do you ask? Anyway, why did As he talked, he walked into the yard, and Sophie followed eagerly.
you
come to my place?”
Sophie could hardly contain her excitement as she looked at Tanner’s perfect body, She hadn’t seen him in years, and he had become even hotter. His physique was still as impressive as before. It was no wonder she had always had her eye on him.
