Chapter 57 

Felicia rushed to greet Edward enthusiastically while Melanie, his wife, barely acknowledged his presence. Sophie, who had arrived home late and seemed down, glanced at Melanie before asking hesitantly, “Did my friends bring many people to your boutique today?” 

“Yes, they did,” Melanie replied simply. 

Sophie felt imitated by Melanie’s cold response but pushed aside her annoyance to ask, “How many dresses did they buy?” 

“About six, Melanie answered. 

Sophie’s frown deepened as she realized more of her classmates would wear Melanie’s dresses. Glancing at the pink dress Melanie had on, she could not hide a flicker of envy, which Melanie instantly noticed. 

Despite her sharp tongue, Sophie was transparent with her emotions, wearing her thoughts plainly on her face. While Melanie dismissed Sophie’s attitude as typical teenage rebellion, she remained wary of Felicia. 

She knew Felicia was not to be underestimated, especially regarding Edward. Melanie even had a feeling that Felicia would only cause more problems. Hence, she needed to build allies quickly before any potential conflicts arose, 

Melanie had two strategies for dealing with people who disliked her. She would either completely ignore them or win over their friends, making the person seem Like the unreasonable one. 

After dinner, Melanie returned to her room and retrieved adress she had selected for Sophie. She left it outside Sophie’s door with a note before anyone finished 

eating 

When Sophie returned to her room, she found the dress with an elegantly written note thanking her for bringing customers to the boutique. Sophie held the dress and found that it was in her favorite style. With mixed emotions, she realized that perhaps Melanie was not as awful as she had imagined. 

Since she had wanted it anyway, Sophie figured she might as well keep it just as she was about to slip away with the dress, Felicia appeared behind her and grabbed 

her arm. 

“who gave you that dress?” 

“M–Melanie did,” Sophie stammeted. “She gave it to me as a thank you for bringing customers to her boutique.” 

Felicia’s expression darkened. She was angered by Melanie’s clever move to win Sophie over. After all, she Imew Sophie well–that brat would not be so kind as to introduce customers to Melanie’s boutique. 

Melanie was not a fool either and could naturally see that. Thus, Felicia did not have to think hard to figure out why Melanie gave Sophie the dress. Even though she was annoyed with Sophie, she maintained a stern expression. 

“You’re not actually planning to keep this dress, are you?” Felicia asked. 

Sophie looked between Felicia and the dress, unsure of how to respond. Seeing her hesitation, Felicia pulled sophie into her bedroom to make sure no one could hear them. 

Then, she began weaving her own narrative and said, “Think about it, Sophie. She’s not being nice. She’s trying to embarrass you just days ago, you criticized her clothes. If you wear this dress tomorrow, imagine how she’ll laugh at you behind your back” 

Felicia sighed dramatically. “Sophie, you’re a Grayson. You need to maintain your dignity. If you can be bought with just one dress, what does that make you?” Sophie listened to Felicia’s manipulative words with growing confusion, unsure of what to believe.
