As they walked in, Melanie couldn’t help but cast a glance back at Gabrielle. 

Seeing the latter standing there in stunned silence, a flicker of sympathy welled up inside her. 

She thought it must be painful to be in love with a man who didn’t belong to oneself. Gabrielle seemed decent, and it was a shame for her to be caught up in such feelings. 

If Edward had any affection for Gabrielle, Melanie might have considered stepping aside. After all, she wouldn’t want to ruin someone else’s happiness for her own 

selfish desires. 

But it was clear that Edward had no romantic interest in Gabrielle, so it seemed she was simply deluding herself. 

on their way through the building, Edward encountered several familiar faces, exchanging friendly greetings as they went. The curious glances directed at Melanie revealed a mix of intrigue and scrutiny.

During the afternoon, a few of Edward’s colleagues, who were well acquainted with him, couldn’t help but ask questions about his wife. Edward kept his answers vague, and seeing his reticence, they let the matter drop. 

However, when Gabrielle came to his department later that day, she hesitated upon seeing Edward. She wanted to say something but held back. 

Everyone knew she had feelings for him, and witnessing her discomfort sparked a sense of sympathy among the others. 

Meanwhile, Melanie accompanied Brody Hastings to handle the driving license procedures, planning to return the next day to practice. With Nellie with her today, practicing driving would be inconvenient, 

Once Brody wrapped up the paperwork, he took his leave, and Melanie thanked him protusely. 

After finishing up, she returned to her store with Nellie to check on the renovation work. The workers had been busy all afternoon, and it was nearly evening by the time she finally went home.

Everyone fell silent in surprise. They hadn’t expected her to move so quickly. 

Sophie rolled her eyes, thinking about Melanie’s outfit and how unlikely it was that anyone would want to buy clothes from someone who dressed like that. Did she think city folks had such low standards? 

“That’s great! If you need any help, just let us know,” Loca said, though he privately thought that running a small business was somewhat beneath their family status. Still, Melanie was family now, and he had to show some support. 

Just as they were finishing up, Edward walked in. Felicia’s face lit up, and she jumped up to greet him.
