Edwand didn’t say a word, but his grip tightened. He was clearly trying to tam Melanie’s body toward him

After a few tense seconds, he finally made up his mind. He leaned in, brushing his lips against hers–then accidentally hit her lip. Both of them instantly froze, eyes wide open 

He couldn’t believe what had just happened and wondered if he had actually bitten her. 

Meanwhile, she was in disbelief too. He always seemed so aloof, buttering up his shit all the way whenever he came near her, but was now acting unexpectedly. 

This didn’t seem like the behavior of someone inexperienced. How would a rookie know to bite like that? 

He quickly pulled back, awkwardly laughing. “Sorry, I..”

She thought that he wouldn’t try anything else if she said that. As attractive as he was, the whole situation felt too forced, like they were just going through the motions. 

Once she spoke, both of the visibly relaxed. He didn’t really want to push things wither–he had only been concerned that it they didn’t do something on their wedding night, she might feel neglected. 

Melanie, on the other hand, didn’t want to seem like she was rejecting him outright, especially considering how people from the 1980s probably viewed marriage. To him, maybe physical intimacy was post a natural part of being a couple.

Heating his response, she suddenly realized that he hadn’t really wanted to take things further either. And so, what could have been a zomantic, heated wedding night ended with both of them falling asleep early,

But in the middle of the night he woke up feeling hot, as if something heavy was pressing down on him. He was a light sleeper, so the sensation jolted him awake. The room was completely dark now–It must’ve been deep into the night–but the moon was bright enough to cast faint light into the room. 

Melanie, who had kept a distance earlier, was now lying on her side with her arm draped over him, almost hugging him. 

It turned out that she was used to sleeping with a body pillow–alone one she bagged while she slept.

Edward clenched his jaw, trying to move her arm off of him, but he had underestimated how tightly she was holding on. He tried twice and failed both times. There was no way he could sleep like this, so he reluctantly reached over and gave her a gentle par 

Even though she was a deep sleeper, being patted awake did the trick. She opened her eyes groggily, looking at him in confusion.

She stared at him, feeling displeased at being woken up after she had finally fallen asleep. She was about to say something, but then she looked down and saw how she was practically draped all over him like an octopus. 

Mortified, she swallowed hard and quickly pulled her arms and legs back, flipping onto her back to stare at the ceiling in horror, wondering why she couldn’t control her ridiculous sleeping habits even after so many years.

Edward, though a little flustered, didn’t say much. But in his mind, he started to think he might need to be more cautious around her. He promptly turned over, eiving her space

The next morning, the sun was already high in the sky when Melanie woke up. Edward was nowhere to be seen

Meanwhile, Felicia had been awake for hours. She had barely been able to sleep at all. She had only managed to get a Tormented by thoughts of what might have happened between Edward and Melanie the night before,

Sapphire and Luca exchanged knowing looks. They were adults, after all, so they had a pretty good idea of what might have happened last night. It had been the couple’s wedding night, and Melanie was three months into her pregnancy–past the initial risky phase. 

Although intimacy wasn’t usually recommended during pregnancy, they wondered if the couple had been up late and whether that was why Melanie was still in 

bed 

“What do you know? she must be tired. Let her rest. Now eat your breakfast and get to school,” Sapphire scolded 

Hearing this, Felicia felt her heart shattet. 

Even Yaeger couldn’t help but glance over at Edward. Had something actually happened between him and Melanie last night? Edward, however, remained calm as he silently ate his oatmeal. 

After breakfast, everyone headed off to work on their way out, Sapphire dropped Nellie off at Xavier’s house since it wasn’t far.
