Serendipity's Secret (Melanie) novel Chapter 14

Chapter 14

1/1

Edward couldn’t help but be a little surprised. Melanie had always seemed so composed, but it turned out she also had these kinds of thoughts

He wasn’t wellversed in this area, though. Was it really okay to be intimate after three months of pregnancy? He would have to ask someone more knowledgeable

later

Melanie returned to the bedroom. Seeing that Edward was still out, she quickly grabbed a nightgown from the wardrobe and changed into it

obably from not drying off properly

y after

Not long after, he came in. His hair was damp and tousled, with some water droplets clinging to his neck and throat, probably washing up

For some reason, Melanie suddenly felt a little parched. The memory of how he had overheard her shameless comment made her want to just close her eyes and disappear

Surely he hadn’t taken her seriously, had be? The whole thing about it being safe after three months was just something she had made up to mess with Felicia. But he didn’t know that. Would he think she expected something to happen tonight

He was still dressed in his suit, which clearly wasn’t suitable for sleeping, especially in this summer heat. Though they had a fan, it didn’t do much to keep things

cool

Normally, he preferred to sleep without clothesit was just more comfortable. But with Melanie around, that was obviously not an option. He took out a tank top and shorts from the wardrobe, getting ready to change

Seeing him start to undress in front of her, Melanie instinctively squeezed her eyes shut. But since he had his back to her, after a few seconds, she couldn’t help but peek again

He had the classic broadshouldered, narrowwaisted build. In clothes, he might have seemed a little lean, but without them, the definition of his muscles became clear. His arms, in particular, had a subtle but noticeable strength to them

He wasn’t too bulky or too slimhis build just right. In fact, he was an ideal specimen

While she hadn’t seen this any men up close in real life before, she had spent plenty of time scrolling through videos of muscular men online. So she wasn’t completely inexperienced in appreciating such things

Meanwhile, as Edward stood with his back to her, he felt a bit selfconscious. Despite being a confident negotiator, he was now a bit out of his element, and his ears tinged pink

strange to undress in front of someone he wasn’t exactly familiar with, despite their history. Back then, they hadn’t really had the lights on Steeling himself, he decided to just go for it and quickly pulled off his pants

At first, Melande thought that he was just like a typical man who wasn’t embarrassed at all. But then she noticed how red his ears were. Wait, was he actually

nervous

So he was just pretending to be calm! The realization gave her a small sense of thrill. She wasn’t the type to play coy if a man tried to flirt with her, but seeing someone like Edward get shy? That was a whole different game

He hurriedly put on his tank top and shorts before tuming around. Should I turn off the light?he asked

She blinked, a little caught off guard by the question. She looked at his sharp, handsome face and pressed her lips together thoughtfully

No need. We’re not going to sleep yet anyway.”

What she didn’t say was that turning off the light felt a little toosuggestive, like

e they were preparing to do something

He glanced at her, didn’t argue, and pulled back the covers to get into bed. It was a twometerwide double bed, so although they were both lying down, they weren’t exactly far apart

The clean, fresh scent of Edward drifted through the space between them, and Melanie felt a little flutter in her chest

He cleared his throat, feeling a bit awkward himself. He wanted to read, but when he turned to look at the bookshelf, be realized this wasn’t his usual toom All the shelves were filled with children’s picture books

With no book to distract himself, he had no choice but to lie there, staring at the ceiling

Melanie did the same. Both of them lay stiffly side by side, silently gazing up at the ceiling as it it held all the answers
