Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 311

Chapter 311

Third Person’s POV

Seraphina froze for a second. The drowsiness in her eyes vanished instantly, replaced by overwhelming joy.

“Really? Mortimer, you can actually see now?!” she cried out, unable to contain her excitement, as she threw her arms around Mortimer’s neck and clung to him, burying herself in his embrace.

Mortimer groaned softly under the impact, but he caught her effortlessly, holding her close as a smile curved his lips.

The warmth of the mating bond surged between them, carrying every ounce of his joy and disbelief straight to Seraphina.

After that, Seraphina poured herself into Mortimer’s recovery.

She carefully prepared meals to support his nerve healing, researched every possible treatment, and patiently guided him through daily eye exercises and gradual light exposure therapy.

With the bond strengthening his wolf healing abilities and Seraphina’s unwavering care guiding his recovery, miracles began to happen one after another. Within just a month, the endless darkness that had surrounded Mortimer finally began to fade.

At first, Mortimer could only see vague flickers of light. Then, little by little, he began to make out Seraphina’s silhouette when she stood close to him. Eventually, the shapes and colors of the room slowly came into focus.

Watching his vision return day by day, Seraphina could barely contain her excitement.

She eagerly shared the incredible news with the members of the Blade Pack.

When Edwin, Velda, and the others heard the news all the way from the United States, they erupted into cheers over the phone, calling Mortimer’s recovery nothing short of a miracle.

Afterward, Seraphina smiled as she called her best friend, Trista.

“Trista! I have the best news-Mortimer can see now! He can already make out my shape!” Seraphina’s voice was filled with uncontrollable happiness.

There was a brief silence on the other end of the line before Trista’s slightly hoarse laughter came through. “Really? Sera, I’m so happy for you! This is the best Christmas gift ever. All your hard work finally paid off.”

Trista’s voice was full of laughter, but after knowing her best friend for so many years, Seraphina immediately sensed the

exhaustion hidden beneath her cheerful tone.

Seraphina frowned slightly, her happiness giving way to worry as she asked, “Hey, are you okay? You sound really tired… Did something happen?”

On the other end of the line, Trista let out a soft sigh, as if she didn’t want to say anything more. “It’s nothing, Sera. Don’t worry about me. I just have a few annoying things to deal with for Wilmot. I’ll tell you about it once I’ve taken care of everything. You and Mortimer enjoy your time together, okay? I’ve got to go.”

Before Seraphina could ask anything else, the call suddenly ended.

She stared at her phone, a growing sense of worry settling over her.

Trista had always been energetic, cheerful, and strong-willed. She was the kind of person who rarely let others hear exhaustion in her voice, let alone sound so drained.

“What’s wrong?”

Mortimer appeared behind her without a sound, wrapping his warm hand around hers and gently brushing his thumb over her

fingers His deep, soothing voice brought her back frotn her worries.

Seraphina leaned against his broad chest and looked up at his unfocused gaze before asking with concern, “It was Trista. I just told her the good news, but she didn’t seem like herself at all. She said something happened to Wilmot, then suddenly hung up… Do you know what’s going on with them?”

Mortimer sighed, gently stroking her hair and back as a helpless feeling settled in his chest.

“Trista was already starting to think about forgiving Wilmot after he saved her back then,” Mortimer said softly. “But recently, there have been rumors going around… Apparently, the woman Wilmot once loved is coming back from abroad.”

He paused, concern softening his voice as he spoke about their relationship. “Because of this, their already fragile relationship was likely to face another challenge.”

Hearing Mortimer say that, Seraphina let out a soft sigh.

Her heart was heavy with worry for Trista.

But the distance between them was too great. Everyone had their own struggles to face, and all she could do was trope that Trista would be okay.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Trista had just ended her call with Seraphina. Before she could process the exhaustion weighing on her, her phone vibrated again.

The screen lit up with the name “Camilla Simmons.”
