Chapter 317
Third Person’s POV
Before Trista could finish speaking, Natalie interrupted, “Don’t give me that. And don’t tell me you’ll eat later. I just ran into your secretary, and she said you went to the hospital to get your stomach checked. You need to eat. How are you supposed to work if you don’t eat properly? Come on.”
Natalie eagerly took her hand, making it difficult for Trista to refuse.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Natalie smiled and said, “Will has quite a temper. It must’ve been hard on you these past few years.”
Trista smiled back. “It’s fine. I hardly ever see him, so it hasn’t really been that difficult.”
Natalie was clearly probing her, but Trista didn’t want to make things awkward
After all, Wilmot and Natalie were the ones who truly belonged together, and she didn’t want to complicate things any further.
Natalie looked at her. “But that’s not really a solution. Trista, what are you planning to do?”
Trista picked up her coffee and took a small sip. “Wilmot and I are going to end our mating bond. An alpha’s marriage affects the whole Pack, but he’s already agreed to end it, so I don’t think he’ll drag things out.”
Wilmot didn’t want to be with her, and she didn’t want to be with him anymore either.
Natalie sighed, “Well, I’m partly to blame for this too. If I hadn’t kept things from you back then, you wouldn’t have to go through all this trouble to break the bond. But since you two don’t have any children tying you together, it should be easier- almost like you were never married in the first place. You don’t have to worry.”
Trista gave a smile. “Yes, that’s true.”
As they chatted, Natalie suddenly waved to someone behind Trista. “Will, over here.”
Trista turned around and saw Wilmot walking toward them in a dark blue suit, looking sharp and full of energy.
He radiated the powerful presence of an alpha, an unmistakable dominance that drew everyone’s attention.
He seemed to shine wherever he went, making everything around him fade into the background.
As Wilmot got closer and noticed Trista, his expression darkened slightly, atrace of disgust flashing in his eyes.
Trista shifted uncomfortably.
Natalie, meanwhile, immediately stood up with a bright smile to welcome him. “I just ran into Trista and invited her to join us for lunch. Will, you don’t mind, do you?”
Wilmot glanced at Trista with an expressionless look. “As long as you’re happy,” he said to Natalie.
Wilmot sat down next to Natalie, and she said, “I was just talking with Trista. She said you two are going to end the bond. Once it’s over, I thought maybe I should set her up with some nice guy.”
Even though Trista was Wilmot’s mate, he sat next to Natalie instead, as if it were the obvious choice.
His alpha gaze was cold by nature. Whenever his eyes landed on Trista, it was as if she were nothing more than an obstacle in his path. He barely acknowledged her before looking away.
Trista didn’t want to care, and she didn’t feel she had the right to, either. In the Pack, a luna’s status had always depended on the alpha. She didn’t even have the confidence to argue with him.
She just felt awkward.

She should have realized earlier-if Natalie showed up at the comparry, it must have been to meet Wilmot.
The waiter handed the menu to Wilmot, and he ordered a few dishes.
Natalie reminded him, “Will, don’t just order what I like. Get some things Trista likes too.”
Wilmot held the menu and glanced at Trista, clearly feeling that her presence was unnecessary.
Trista felt out of place too, so she quietly checked her phone.
Just as Wilmot handed the menu to her, the phone she’d just set on the table began to ring.
Trista quickly answered, and Emily’s voice came through. “Luna Trista, Mr. Sawyer Jones from Zoranta Corporation is here. He says the paperwork for Project Two isn’t finished yet, and Mr. Simmons still hasn’t signed off, so they can’t start work.”
Trista said, “Alright, I’ll be back right away.”
After hanging up, Trista looked at Natalie and said, “Natalie, something urgent came up at the company. I have to head back. Enjoy your lunch.”
She picked up her bag and phone and walked out without waiting for either of them to respond.
The moment she stepped out of the restaurant, Trista felt an immediate weight lift off her chest-even the air felt easier to breathe.
Back inside the restaurant, Natalie turned to Wilmot. “Are you really going to end the bond?”
Wilmot let out a mocking laugh: “You actually believe her?”
She was someone who valued power and status even more than he did. There was no way she’d willingly sever the mating bond. Even if she truly wanted to end it, with Trista’s calculating nature, dividing up their interests in the Bloodmoon Pack alone would be enough to keep them arguing for a long time.
Natalie said, “I think Trista’s pretty serious. Or is it that you can’t let go?”
