Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 308

Chapter 308

Third Person’s POV

As soon as she finished speaking Velda’s eyes turned red.

Seraphina’s heart sank.

She met Velda’s sorrowful gaze and swallowed the question that nearly slipped out.

“It’s… It’s okay. His health comes first.”

Just then, the airport announcement sounded.

“Attention passengers, flight DH5566 is now boarding…”

“Luna Seraphina, take care. We’ll be waiting for you to come back. Mortimer… Will be waiting for you too.”

“Okay. Goodbye.”

Seraphina hugged Velda tightly, said goodbye to her parents, then pulled her suitcase toward the security checkpoint.

The plane slowly took off.

Sitting by the window, Seraphina watched as the plane rose through the clouds, leaving the airport far below until it was no longer visible.

Mortimer, goodbye…

Iceblade Healing Center Emergency Room.

“Hurry, his intracranial pressure is rising. We need to relieve the pressure immediately.”

On the emergency bed, Mortimer struggled to open his eyes. His vision and hearing had been almost completely lost due to his brain injury. This was the truth he had hidden in his medical records. The severe trauma had robbed him of his eyesight and the heightened hearing that came with his werewolf senses.

The roar of the airplane seemed to echo in his ears. The mate bond stretching across the distance trembled faintly somewhere far away in the sky.

He seemed to see Seraphina smiling as she waved goodbye to him.

“My mate. Goodbye…”

Another year was coming to an end.

Although the Christmas and New Year holidays had not officially arrived, the festive atmosphere had already filled every corner

of the city.

Families were cleaning their homes, decorating their houses, and preparing for the upcoming celebrations.

The streets were lined with colorful Christmas lights and decorations, all waiting to welcome the arrival of the new year.

Meanwhile, far away in Germany, Seraphina was still working tirelessly in the laboratory.

The research institute and university had not yet started their holiday break, but the neighborhood where she lived was already covered in festive decorations.

“Sera, the holiday starts in two days. The institute will be closed for two days, so you should take some time to enjoy yourself.”

“Thank you, Professor.”

Seraphina was full of determination. The project she was working oft was originally expected to take two years to complete, but by spending nearly every day and night in the lab, she had cut the timeline in half.

Even her teammates on the project were inspired by her dedication. They pushed themselves harder and no longer felt comfortable slacking off.

Because of that, the project was likely to be completed a year ahead of schedule.

Two days earlier, Garfield and Thomasina had told her that they had booked flights from Los Angeles to Germany. They planned to bring Dash and Toasty with them to spend the holidays with her.

Today, after finishing the experimental data she was working on, she could finally go home and prepare.

After dissolving her mate bond with Mortimer, Seraphina received a considerable amount of assets. She used half of it to fund her research, but she also made sure she could live comfortably.

She bought a detached home near the research institute, giving herself a quiet place to rest after long days in the lab.

This year, the local community organized a grand holiday market and celebration.

After returning home, Seraphina changed into casual clothes, put on a light down jacket, and headed outside.

The venue was filled with stalls selling delicate holiday decorations and local treats.

There were Christmas lights, handmade ornaments, and all kinds of festive activities.

At the center of the venue, the largest ice rink was hosting a spectacular figure skating performance.

The skaters in their costumes glided gracefully across the ice, performing lifts and spins with smooth, elegant movements.

“Bravo!”

“Amazing!”

“That was incredible!”

Cheers erupted throughout the rink.

As Seraphina watched, her eyes slowly grew misty.

“Mortimer… I wish you could see this too.” She lowered her gaze and murmured

A year earlier, she had left the United States and come to the research center where she was now.
