Chapter 307
Mird Person’s POV
Seraphina stared at the line of text for a long time before finally pulling her gaze away.
With trembling hands, she closed the file and handed it back to Richard.
“Thank you, Richard.”
Richard looked at her pale face and sighed. “The fact that Mortimer was able to wake up is already a miracle. As long as he’s alive, nothing else matters.”
Seraphina nodded, forcing herself to keep her emotions in check before saying goodbye to him.
It wasn’t until she walked out of the Iceblade Healing Center that the tears she had been holding back finally fell
During that time, Seraphina never saw Mortimer again. She heard that he had been discharged and hired a professional therapist to help him recover.
And Elias was still at the helm of the Craig Group.
It wasn’t until the day before she was leaving for Germany that Seraphina returned to the packhouse.
“Luna Seraphina!”
The servants at the packhouse still addressed her by that title out of habit.
“I’m here to see Edwin and the others.”
“Luna, please come inside. They are in the study. You can wait in the living room for now.”
While waiting, Seraphina still went to see Mortimer.
He had just finished his rehabilitation session.
“Alpha Mortimer, Luna Seraphina is here.”
Mortimer, who had just come out of the rehabilitation room, stiffened slightly. Then he waved to the servant and the therapist. “You may leave.”
After they left, Mortimer sat in his wheelchair and forced a smile. “Sera, what brings you here?”
Seraphina walked up to him and placed her hands on both sides of his wheelchair. Slowly, she leaned closer to him.
Just before her lips touched his, she whispered, “I’m here to say goodbye.”
Only after hearing her words did Mortimer suddenly snap back to reality. His body jerked backward.
But Seraphina reached out and placed her hand against the back of his neck, making him face her. “When I was about to kiss you just now, you didn’t react at all. But the moment I spoke, you got scared. Why?”
Her voice was soft, and she looked straight into his evasive eyes.
Mortimer’s entire body froze at her question.
His wolf, which should have been alert and sensitive, showed no reaction at all.
After a long silence, he finally spoke. “I knew you wouldn’t actually kiss me. You were trying to tease me.”

A faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
on’t do that.”His voice was gentle as he tried to push her away.
But when he reached out, his hand missed.
After a brief pause, he slowly pushed her away.
Then he calmly changed the subject. “I heard you’re leaving for Germany tomorrow?”
Seraphina stared into his eyes and softly replied, “Yes. I came to say goodbye today. I might not come back for many years.”
The smile at the corner of Mortimer’s lips slowly faded.
After a long while, he spoke in a hoarse voice. “Then… take care of yourself. Make sure you’re doing well over there.”
“Okay.”
“If you need anything, contact Tade. He’ll help you.’
A soft laugh escaped Seraphina. “Beta Tade is your subordinate. Why would I ask him for help? We’re not mates anymore.”
Mortimer fell silent. His jaw tightened, and the faint mate bond deep within his chest trembled weakly.
“We’re still friends. Friends will help each other.”
“I don’t make a habit of being friends with my ex-mate.”
Mortimer fell silent again. This time, he didn’t try to hide his feelings, A bitter smile tugged at his lips as he finally said, “Okay.”
“I’m leaving, Mortimer.” Seraphina straightened up and looked at him.
“Mm. Take care.”
“You too. Take care of yourself.”
With that, Seraphina turned and walked away.
After taking a few steps, she stopped at the corner. “Mortimer.”
“Hm?” Mortimer looked up.
“Can you come to the airport tomorrow to see me off?”
Mortimer slowly turned toward the direction of her voice. After a moment, he nodded. “Okay.”
“Then… see you tomorrow, Mortimer.”
“See you tomorrow.”
