30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 578

In a way that was utterly lacking among the boys in her class, she found herself still in his room, not ready to leave just yet.

Before long, Grayson emerged from the bathroom, now dressed in comfortable clothes, and saw Angel still sitting on his bed, showing no intention of leaving.

Noticing her casual demeanor, Grayson pulled up a chair and sat down beside her. "It's late, why aren't you asleep?"

Resting her hands on the bed, Angel replied, "I slept too much during the day, and now I can't fall asleep."

Looking her in the eyes, Grayson asked, "So, you're here this late to talk about choosing a university?"

"It's not about school," Angel shook her head, then added, "I was hoping to discuss with you if I could intern at the company to learn something new. Otherwise, I'm just wasting time at home."

Hearing her request, Grayson's expression darkened slightly. If it had been just the day before, he wouldn't have thought much of it. But now, he couldn't help but suspect that her intentions weren't solely to intern at the company.

After a moment of thought, Grayson advised, "High school was tough, and now that you have a long break, you should rest at home or go out with friends."

"As for working, there will be plenty of that after you graduate from college."

His words were sincere; even without the previous night's incident, he wouldn't have encouraged Angel to intern at the company.

Angel quickly stood up from the bed, approaching him as she clasped his arm, pleading, "Uncle, please agree! I promise I won't cause any trouble at the company. I just want something to do."

Considering her plea, Grayson then suggested, "Aunt Estrella is expecting a baby, and she could use some help. Why don't you work with her? That way, you can also help take care of her. Plus, learning about law could be more practical than just doing odd jobs at the company."

Grayson was concerned that if Angel interned at their family business, he would have to drive her to the office every day, increasing their time together. He wanted her to have a life like any other normal girl, not entangled with her 'uncle.'

When Grayson suggested helping Aunt Estrella, Angel's mood visibly shifted, her smile freezing on her face.

Why wouldn't her uncle allow her to work at their family company? He had even said before that it didn't matter if her grades weren't stellar; he and the company could support her.

Could it be he was worried about his grandparents dividing the company shares amongst them? No, that didn't seem like him. She was sure if she mentioned wanting a share, he wouldn't hesitate.

So, did her uncle suspect something? Or did she accidentally say something wrong when she was drunk last night?

Staring intently at Grayson, Angel pondered deeply. Eventually, she awkwardly smiled, "Okay! Then I'll learn with Aunt Estrella."

By agreeing to Grayson's suggestion, she avoided revealing her true intentions for wanting to work at the company.

Grayson's attitude tonight made Angel hesitate to reveal her feelings, afraid of letting him know she liked him.

Seeing Angel agree after a long stare, Grayson said, "Then I'll call Aunt Estrella tomorrow."

Angel forced a smile, though feeling a sting in her heart. It seemed her uncle didn't want her by his side.

As the discussion about work concluded, Angel let go of Grayson's hand without any indication of her inner turmoil.

After a long look at Grayson, she mustered the courage to ask, "Uncle, do you dislike having me around?"
