Leonora didn't hold back, and that made Carrie even happier—she always appreciated straightforward girls.
After sharing a few more words, Leonora hung up the call. Handing the phone back to Taylor, she gave him a goofy grin, pleasantly surprised by how easygoing his mom was.
Seeing Leonora's relaxed demeanor with his mom, Taylor remarked, "You did great."
Leonora playfully stuck her tongue out before continuing her meal. Taylor hadn’t lied; his family had no objections to their relationship. While eating, Leonora was already plotting how to convince her own parents. No matter what it took, she was determined.
After they finished their meal and were on their way back to Southbay, Taylor, steering with one hand and holding Leonora's with the other, said, "Let's check out wedding venues and dresses this weekend. We should book the hotel first."
Leonora had accepted his proposal, so it made sense that Taylor was eager to get the wedding plans rolling. He wanted to get things done quickly, fearing any delays could cause complications.
"Wait, aren't we supposed to go to your place for dinner on Saturday? Your mom just called about it," Leonora asked, a bit puzzled by Taylor's rush.
Compared to Taylor, Leonora was less in a hurry. She felt that as long as they were together, the wedding details were just formalities.
"Dinner won't take all weekend. We'll be back in time," Taylor reassured her.
"...," Leonora looked at Taylor, thinking he was really in a hurry. Given how short their acquaintance had been and the few times they had met, she couldn't help but ask, "Are you sure you don't want to think it over?"
Taylor didn't like hearing that. He playfully bit her hand and said, "What, having second thoughts?"
"It's not that. I'm worried you might regret it."
Taylor sighed, "Letting you go two years ago, that’s my regret."
There was a hint of wistfulness in Taylor's eyes. Seeing this, Leonora intertwined her fingers with his, "Maybe if it weren't for these two years apart, we wouldn't have realized our true feelings. So, there's no need for regrets."
"Then let's go check it out this weekend."
"Okay."
"About your parents, let me handle it."
"Taylor, don't rush. Give me two days. My parents think I'm not good enough for you. I'll need a couple of days to show them that I am."
Leonora was too nervous to bring him home just yet. Taylor understood her concerns.
Without insisting, Taylor said, "Alright, two more days then."
He figured if she couldn’t handle it, he would step in eventually.
The couple continued their conversation, laughing about the wedding stories of Jason and Estrella, and Bryce, which made Leonora laugh until her stomach ached. She hadn't expected those distant matters to become so relevant to her.
