Leonora's mood was crystal clear, and the smile on her face said it all. She had fallen for Taylor a long time ago.
Since meeting Joselyn earlier, Leonora couldn't hide her happiness. Listening to Joselyn, she said, "We managed to clear the air so quickly, thanks to you."
Without that phone call from her yesterday, without her asking me to pick up her purse, Taylor and I wouldn't have gone to Southbay. Who knows how much longer it would have taken for us to address our feelings otherwise?
Two years ago, I was desperate to break up with Taylor, fearing the emotional toll it might take on him. Afraid he might be responsible for something tragic. Looking back, I was so naive then. But that was the only way I knew how to handle things, the only perspective I had.
Joselyn, acknowledging my gratitude, said, "Even without me, you two wouldn't have waited much longer."
Both of us harboring feelings for each other and willing to start over – how much longer could we have waited? Besides, it was Taylor, of all people, who wouldn't stand on ceremony.
Despite the years that had passed, Joselyn still remembered the lengths Taylor and I went to be together. Hearing Joselyn, I laughed. Yes, we were bound to come clean sooner or later.
Joselyn then said sentimentally, "Arielle, no matter what, I'm happy for you. When you were with Grant, I couldn't imagine this outcome with Taylor."
When I was with Grant, I had only confided in Joselyn. Life is full of unexpected surprises. "Indeed!" I couldn't help but reflect. Meeting Taylor and ending up together, despite his initially questionable methods.
After dinner, as we strolled through the department store, Joselyn noticed my good mood and sneaky smiles. Linking arms with me, she teased, "Look at you, Comrade Leonora! Mr. Taylor has finally fallen for you."
Taylor, of all people, was going to be Mrs. Ferguson's best friend, her sole confidante. I responded, "I should congratulate myself."
It wasn't Taylor's status that mattered to me; it was the joy of rekindled love, the happiness of feeling affection and butterflies again. While we were at the department store, my phone rang.
It was Taylor. I answered, "Hello?"
"I'm at the entrance of the mall, we can go home now."
"Alright."
After hanging up, Joselyn couldn't help but exclaim, "Oh! 'We'? 'Go home'? You two are even more affectionate than me and my husband, Dr. Fleming."
Amused by Joselyn's teasing, I linked arms with her, "Let's go, we're heading back." I blushed, and Joselyn laughed even more proudly, "You lucky woman."
"As if you're not happy."
"Me and Dr. Fleming are like an old married couple now; our happiness isn't as intense as yours."
As we reached the department store's entrance, Taylor's car was already parked nearby. Seeing Taylor's car brought a smile to my face, a clear sign of my happiness. As we approached the roadside, Taylor got out of the car.
Joselyn greeted him with a beaming smile, "Long time no see, Mr. Taylor."
