Upstairs in the office, Taylor had just settled at his desk when Blake knocked and walked in.
"Mr. Taylor," Blake greeted respectfully.
Taylor looked up, his expression weary from a sleepless night spent waiting for Leonora. She had dinner with Grant last night, which made things worse. He felt a surge of frustration. But really, he had only himself to blame. If he hadn't brought Kitty into the company and dealt with her flirtations from the get-go, none of this would be happening. Leonora wouldn't be upset, and she wouldn't be giving him the cold shoulder.
Seeing Taylor's grim expression, Blake didn't waste time. "Mr. Taylor, Miss Luna visited Ms. Arielle yesterday."
Taylor's attention instantly sharpened at the mention of Kitty visiting Leonora. He was clearly both concerned and intrigued.
Blake continued, "After Miss Luna bumped into Ms. Arielle yesterday, she made her spend the entire afternoon photocopying old contracts."
Blake had learned about the incident while helping Leonora with the photocopying and casually inquiring about it. The administrative staff were puzzled, wondering what Leonora could have done to deserve such treatment from Kitty. Blake suggested that Mr. Jason might have found those documents useful, dismissing any notion of offense. But deep down, he knew Kitty was intentionally making things difficult for Leonora, all because of Taylor.
Taylor's mood darkened instantly. No wonder Leonora refused to see him last night; it was all because of Kitty's meddling. As Taylor's mood grew stormier, Blake quickly wrapped up his report, left the documents on Taylor's desk, and excused himself. He had conveyed everything to Taylor; the choice was now his to make.
Having been Taylor's secretary for years, Blake knew well that Taylor wasn't one to settle down easily, changing partners as if they were clothes. Yet, meeting Leonora seemed to have calmed him for over two years, to Blake's surprise. However, old habits die hard. So, when Kitty showed up at the company, Blake wasn't surprised, but he was touched that Taylor had remained faithful. It seemed that after two years, genuine affection had developed. In matters of the heart, even though societal matches are considered, when emotions are involved, there are no rules or certainties.
After Blake left the office, Taylor looked utterly distressed. He had been too lenient with Kitty lately; she was overstepping her bounds at Ferguson Group, even troubling Leonora. While fuming over Kitty, coincidentally, Kitty knocked and entered his office.
With a flirtatious demeanor, she remarked, "Brother-in-law, why such a gloomy face first thing in the morning? I told you, you should have come to my place last night. I would have taken good care of you."
Regardless of time or place, Kitty always radiated warmth and enthusiasm. As she approached the desk, Taylor, who wasn't accustomed to laying hands on women, picked up a document and threw it at Kitty's face, asking coldly, "Who allowed you to bother Leonora? Who told you to make things difficult for her?"
Taken aback by Taylor's sudden outburst, Kitty was momentarily shocked. As the document scattered over her face, Kitty's expression turned embarrassed, and anger flared within her. She had come to him with a smile in hopes of appeasement, yet he greeted her with hostility. Their relationship was supposed to be professional and equal. Furthermore, what was so special about that woman? She was nothing but leftovers from Grant, yet Taylor treated her like a treasure.
