Leonora decided not to get in his car. Instead, she walked away with Grant, letting him take her home. She wasn’t about to give Taylor the satisfaction. She was done with all the tolerating and yielding.
Seeing this, Mr. Lee didn’t leave either. He followed Grant’s car until Leonora was safely home, then turned around to wait for Taylor.
---
It was a little after 9 p.m. when Taylor wrapped up his dinner engagement and arrived at the hotel lobby with his colleagues. Mr. Lee was already waiting outside.
“Mr. Taylor,” Mr. Lee said, quickly opening the rear door as Taylor walked out.
Just then, Kitty grabbed Taylor’s arm. “Brother-in-law, didn’t we agree at dinner? You’re coming home with me tonight.”
Taylor brushed her hand off without a second thought. “Blake, take Kitty home,” he instructed.
Blake nodded and gestured to Kitty. “This way, please, Ms. Kitty.”
Kitty, clearly not wanting to leave Taylor, turned around only to see him already getting into the car. As she tried to follow, Taylor shut the door in her face.
“Brother-in-law!” Kitty knocked on the window.
“Mr. Lee, let’s go,” Taylor ordered.
“Right away,” Mr. Lee responded, starting the car.
As they drove off, Taylor asked casually, “Did you take Arielle home?”
Mr. Lee’s expression changed. He hesitated before answering quietly, “Miss Winston didn’t want to ride with me. Mr. Grant took her home.”
Taylor’s face darkened. Hadn’t he told her he’d come by later? Why couldn’t she wait? Whenever Grant asked, she never said no.
Frustration built up inside Taylor. After a long silence, he finally said, “Take me to Leonora’s.”
“Right away, Mr. Taylor.” Mr. Lee stepped on the gas, sensing Taylor’s urgency.

Meanwhile, at Leonora’s place…
After dinner with Grant, Leonora felt calm. She took a bath, then settled in her room. She was reading and had just turned off the light when her phone buzzed. It was Taylor.
Leonora didn’t want to answer at first, but knowing they needed to talk, she picked up.
“Hey, wifey, I’m done for the day. I’m downstairs at your place,” Taylor said cheerfully.
