30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 480

He didn't really want to bring it up, but Taylor was bound to find out eventually, so he decided to spill the beans.

Holed up in his office, Taylor's face turned a shade of thunder the moment the words left Blake's mouth, and the documents he was holding clattered onto the desk.

"A blind date?"

Heck, the moment his back was turned, she was out there playing the dating game.

Was everything he had told her just hot air?

In no time, Taylor was seething, his voice dripping with icy sarcasm. "So, I'm gone for just a couple of weeks, and she's off to blind dates? What's next? If I'm busy a bit longer, will she be off on a honeymoon?"

Blake couldn't help but feel a wave of anxiety for Leonora at Taylor's biting words.

He had seen Leonora's integrity and diligence with his own eyes over the past couple of years. So, he tried to reason with Taylor, "Mr. Taylor, Ms. Arielle is 26, man. Maybe she's feeling the heat from her folks, couldn't stand the pressure."

But Taylor wasn't having any of it. So what if she's 26? He's nearly 33 and hasn't hit the panic button yet.

He had warned her repeatedly during their weekend getaway at Southbay not to go on these blind dates. Yet, she didn't listen.

The more Taylor thought about it, the angrier he got.

Staring Blake down, Taylor locked eyes with him but said nothing.

Seeing Taylor's grim face, Blake mustered his courage and asked, "Mr. Taylor, if I may speak freely?"

Taylor's face was stormy. "Go ahead."

With Taylor's green light, Blake ventured, "Mr. Taylor, you've probably noticed Ms. Arielle is a straight-shooter. She must be scared, knowing there's no future with you."

Blake nearly said it outright - Leonora was a good girl, not cut out to be someone's secret fling forever.

Blake was speaking up for Leonora because he had seen her vulnerability, her tears, and even her pleas for help to get Taylor to back off.

Back then, he only advised Leonora to let it go.

But today, he brought it up knowing Taylor's temper, fearing the worst for Leonora.

Sure enough, after Blake spoke, Taylor's expression darkened, his smile not reaching his eyes as he chillingly asked, "So, Dubois, you think I'm the bad guy? That I shouldn't be with her?"

Blake hastily denied, "Mr. Taylor, that's not what I'm saying."

Seeing Blake's nervousness, Taylor, holding back his rage, dismissed him, "You can leave now."

Blake was three years Taylor's senior and had been a great help when Taylor first joined the company. Without Blake, Taylor might not have outmaneuvered Grant, and deep down, he knew Blake had a point. He was bullying Leonora, and he refrained from lashing out at Blake.

They say your accuser knows your innocence better than you, and similarly, the bully knows they're bullying you.

Especially someone as smart as Taylor, he was well aware of his actions.

The door closed gently behind Blake, and Taylor, in a fit of rage, smashed a jade pen holder on his desk, his face a picture of fury.

He had thought, perhaps foolishly, that their weekend together had left some impression on Leonora, but he had clearly overestimated his importance in her heart.

Leonora didn't take him seriously at all.

After smashing the pen holder, Taylor massaged his temples, feeling a headache brewing.
