The minute Taylor's temper flared, his appetite vanished.

With a stubborn push back of his chair, he stood up, a dark cloud on his face, and stormed off to his study.

Next to him, Leonora rolled her eyes and turned away, completely uninterested in his tantrum.

A while later, Taylor, still fuming, marched out of his study only to find Leonora calmly eating her dinner as if nothing had happened.

Taylor’s anger deflated like a punctured balloon. The look he gave her said it all.

She clearly didn’t care. She was so indifferent to his feelings that being mad at her felt like being mad at himself.

Despite this, Taylor couldn’t help but sulk.

At the dinner table, Leonora acted like Taylor wasn’t even there, eating her meal without a second glance in his direction.

After a long moment of silently staring at her, realizing she hadn't noticed him at all, Taylor gave up and retreated to his bedroom.

By nine o’clock, Leonora finished her meal and was getting ready to leave when she found the front door inexplicably locked.

No doubt, this was Taylor’s doing. He must’ve locked it from the inside.

Unfazed, Leonora didn’t bother looking for Taylor. Instead, she wandered back inside, busying herself with something else.

In the study, Taylor, having noticed that Leonora had stopped trying to leave, put down his work and went to find her.

Truth be told, he couldn’t focus on work; his attention was entirely on Leonora, ears pricked for any sound of her movements.

Not finding Leonora in the living room or the bedroom, Taylor pushed open the bathroom door and found Leonora perched on the windowsill.

His heart nearly stopped in fear as he rushed over to grab her hand. “Leonora, what are you doing?”

Leonora looked at him, feigning innocence. “The door’s locked, so I thought maybe I could climb down the drainpipe.”

Taylor just stared at her, bewildered.

After a moment, he finally spoke, “Do you even realize we’re on the 24th floor?”

Taylor’s anger dissipated as he carefully lifted her down from the window. The thought of losing her was unbearable.

Placing Leonora safely on the ground, Taylor said, dejectedly, “Do you have to be this stubborn? I just wanted your company for one evening. Is that too much to ask? Would you really risk your life over it?”

Leonora looked up at him. “It’s not like that. I just wanted to go back.”

Taylor, trying a different tactic, threatened, “If you try climbing down, I swear I’ll throw your parents out of the window too.”

Leonora’s face turned red with anger.

Seeing her reaction, Taylor gently caressed her face, conceding, “Okay, I didn’t mean to threaten you. You’re just so hard to deal with sometimes. It’s my day off, and I didn’t want you to leave. I just wanted to spend more time with you. Is that so wrong?”

“And honestly, it’s because I enjoy your company. That’s why I wanted to keep you here.”

Taylor’s softer approach left Leonora without much to argue.

She licked her lips, unsure of what to say next, but Taylor pressed on, “Just this once, can’t you stay?”

With a sigh of resignation, Leonora agreed, “Let me call my folks first. If they’re okay with it, then you can’t give me a hard time about leaving.”
