Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, Jason calmly said, "Yeah, just make sure everything's properly handled. I'll be keeping an eye on the company too over the next few days."
Drew responded, "Boss, you can count on me. I'll keep everything in line, and if anything comes up, you'll be the first to know."
After wrapping up the call with a few more instructions, Jason turned back to Estrella, who was lying in bed, a playful smile dancing on her lips. "So, now you're taking calls from Drew behind my back?"
Gently pinching Estrella's chin, he planted a kiss on her lips, murmuring, "Just work stuff."
The sweetness of her lips lingered, a faint hint of vanilla in their wake.
The two shared a cozy moment before Estrella stretched languidly, asking Jason to hand her the jacket lying nearby. Slipping into it, she made her way downstairs.
"Estrella," they had barely reached the bottom of the stairs when Autumn burst in, a whirlwind of energy, followed by a few housekeepers. They brought with them an array of nourishing treats and baby essentials, including toys for Isaac.
Upon seeing the spectacle Autumn had orchestrated, Estrella was torn between laughter and tears. "Mom, this is way too much. We don't need all these things yet, and besides, we'll have to clear out space to store them."
Autumn stood her ground, insisting, "This house is plenty big. A few things for my grandson won't cramp it. I'm just getting prepared."
Kristin, seeing Autumn, greeted her with open arms, instructing the housekeepers to prepare some refreshments, bringing the house to life.
The conversation soon turned to Estrella's pregnancy, with both Autumn and Kristin doling out advice and reminders, especially about the first trimester.
Estrella felt a headache coming on, while Jason listened intently, nodding along more earnestly than he would at a business meeting, much to Estrella's amusement.
"If this one's a girl, you'll have the perfect family. Isaac will be thrilled to have a sister," Autumn commented.
Kristin chimed in, "Exactly. I reminded Jason at lunch to make up for everything he owes Estrella, hoping for double happiness."
The topic of Estrella's second pregnancy without a formal celebration came up, leaving Kristin feeling somewhat guilty for not having properly acknowledged it.
Hearing this, Autumn chuckled, "Ah, that's all just for show. What matters is their happiness. As long as they're fine, I couldn't ask for more."
After much banter, Kristin convinced Autumn to stay over at Sandalwood Oasis. Autumn didn't need much persuading, feeling the emptiness of her home since Estrella moved out.
Jason, seeing the lively discussion, whispered to Estrella about picking up Isaac from school, reminding her he'd be careful driving.
---
On the way back with Isaac, the boy was bombarded with the news of a potential sister, flooding Jason with questions about her appearance and when they could meet.
Jason explained patiently, "She's still in mommy's belly. She'll arrive around Christmas."
Isaac, full of wonder, asked if his mom's belly was as big as a balloon yet, making Jason laugh with the innocence of his curiosity.
