Isaac was a sweet kid, always eager to play chess with him. Keith didn't want to see him leave, but as they reached the doorway, he couldn't bring himself to follow. His eyes were filled with a sorrowful haze.

In that moment, he was reminded of Jason's biological father, Hans. The last time he had seen Hans off, it was a beautiful spring evening just like this one. He never imagined that would be the last time he would see his son.

As Jason led Isaac away, Estrella caught the emotion in Keith's gaze, even without turning around. Just from the sound of Keith's footsteps and the shuffle of his cane, she could tell how much he didn't want to let Jason and Isaac go.

Edith let out a sigh, her voice tinged with resignation, “And grandpa, I might not be able to get involved in Jason's love life, to fulfill your wish.” She had her share of romantic encounters but none like how Jason treated her. To him, there was only Estrella and his son, no room for anyone else. Even if she transformed into a blooming flower or a fairy, she couldn't enter his world, couldn't win his favor.

Resting his hands on his cane, Keith looked towards the gate, exhaling deeply with a sense of helplessness, “I've put you in a difficult position.” He added, “Edith, if you don't want to stay here, I can have someone take you back to Oak Falls.”

Despite his reluctance to accept it, Keith saw Jason's stance clearly. He could butt heads with Jason, have their disagreements, but he couldn't bear to embarrass the young woman involved, couldn't keep pushing her forward.

Holding onto Keith's arm, Edith smiled, “I'd have nothing to do back home. Let me stay here with you, consider it a vacation.” If she left, Keith would lose even the comfort of heartfelt conversations. Her grandfather once said that Keith had saved his life. So, even if things didn't work out with Jason, she still regarded the old man as her own grandfather.

“That'll do.” Keith responded, his gaze still lingering on the yard gate, reluctant to look away.

Edith stayed silent, merely supporting Keith as they stood at the doorway. For over thirty years, he and Amber had supported and comforted each other through tough times.

Meanwhile, in Jason's Maybach, not long after the car started, Isaac had fallen asleep in Estrella's arms in the back seat. Holding Isaac close, Estrella kissed the top of his head, her heart swelling with tenderness. Outside the car window, the spring scenery was more vibrant than ever, enveloping the landscape in a breathtaking beauty.

Isaac was her everything. If anything were to happen to him, she doubted she could go on.

Half an hour later, they arrived back at Sandalwood Oasis. When Jason carried Isaac inside, Kristin quietly chided him, "Jason, really, you could've called me before picking up Isaac. I went all the way there for nothing."
