After all, he didn't know the full story of what happened back then. When Keith urged him to take revenge and not spare the Nelsons and the Dorvolds, Jason dismissed it as nonsense and didn't pay any attention. He refused to become a tool for Keith’s personal vendetta.

Seeing Jason’s understanding, Landon, despite his age, couldn't hold back his tears. He handed Jason a folder and said, "Jason, this is the share agreement for Nelson International."

"Not long after you left, Estrella gave the shares back to me. Considering your stepfather and I are getting older and might not be around much longer, it's crucial that you and Estrella take over the company."

"Estrella has already taken over Nelson International, so it's only fair that you take responsibility too. Your contributions have been essential in getting us where we are today, just as much as the efforts Cole and I have put in over the years for you and Estrella."

"It's the least we can do to honor your parents' wishes and expectations. It's a small comfort, perhaps, but it shows we haven't completely let them down."

This was all for the children, after all. Even if Jason never returned to the Nelson family, Landon was prepared to entrust the company to him, regardless of whether he and Estrella ended up together. If Jason took on this responsibility, it would inevitably maintain some connection between him, Estrella, and the Nelson family. Ultimately, Landon hoped to keep Jason close.

As Landon offered the share agreement, Jason didn’t reach out to take it. Instead, he smiled and said, "Dad, you're still young. Hand it over to Estrella in a few years."

"I’m not here to settle scores or seek fairness. I know well how you and Mom have treated me all these years. I’m just here to check on Estrella and Isaac, to see Mom."

Seeing how Jason didn’t blame or even question the past events, Landon felt an overwhelming sense of guilt. "If you had been straightforward two years ago, things might not be as complicated," Jason remarked, hinting at the difficulties caused by Landon’s silence.

Filled with regret, Landon admitted, "I was caught off guard and unsure how to tell you. Perhaps many of my decisions were wrong."

Believing he could balance everything, Landon realized his efforts had only made matters worse.

After a pause, Jason asked, "Dad, would you agree if I decided to take Estrella away?"

Though not seeking justice or fairness, he felt unable to stay, wishing to take Estrella and Isaac with him. He didn’t want to make things harder for Estrella.

Upon Jason’s mention of leaving with Estrella, the fork in Landon’s hand dropped to the table. After a lengthy silence, Landon replied, "Jason, you know I can’t make decisions for Estrella. She barely speaks to me these days. You’ll have to discuss it with your in-laws and Estrella herself. If she agrees to go with you, I’ll consent."
