30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 375

"I've always liked guys with a bit of guts, so him leaving was the right call. Axis Technology's been a huge success too."

Estrella's words of comfort nearly brought Drew, a grown man, to tears.

He looked up at Estrella, seeing through her attempt to console both him and the boss.

"Ms. Estrella," Drew called out, his voice thick with emotion.

Estrella stood up slowly, gently patting Drew's shoulder with her purse, a bittersweet smile on her face. "Come on now, big guy. What’s this all about? Don't tell me you're going to cry! With a boss as capable as yours, everyone’s doing great. You should be happy."

Drew looked up, still feeling down. "Ms. Estrella."

Estrella couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, alright, big man. Looks like I have to comfort you too."

Drew still felt down, looking at her, he asked, "Ms. Estrella, what about you and the boss? Are you really not going to forgive him?"

Estrella laughed, though there was a touch of helplessness in it. "I never blamed him, so there's nothing to forgive."

After a pause, she sighed, looking at Drew and speaking softly, "Drew, I appreciate you trying to explain things for him. But bringing up old feelings makes it hard for both of us."

If she were Cole's biological daughter, she could afford to stay mad at him, but she wasn't.

So, there was much more to consider.

Having said her piece, Estrella glanced at her watch, casually adding, "I've got work to do, I better head back. You should get going too."

She turned to the waitress. "Put the bill on my tab."

After settling the bill, she gave Drew's shoulder another comforting pat, urging him not to dwell on the issue, before leaving.

The café’s glass door slowly closed behind Estrella, her figure appearing solitary, forlorn, and desolate.

Drew had explained everything to her, and for a moment, Estrella’s heart ached—a pain that lingered, a sorrow for Jason and for herself.

But it’s all in the past now. Life goes on, and they all must learn to reconcile with themselves and live well.

Even for Cole, Autumn, and Isaac, she had to muster her spirits.

Life must move forward.

In the adult world, the most frequent and viable choice is often simply to let go.

In the café, as Drew watched Estrella’s departing figure, tears nearly escaped his eyes, unaware that the wind had also reddened Estrella’s eyes.

Her heart clenched in pain, spreading to the palms of her hands and her fingertips.

At twenty-nine, virtually thirty, her youth had ended. From now on, she is Estrella, the chairman of Nelson International, the daughter of Cole and Autumn, the mother of Isaac, but no longer Jason’s Mrs. Nelson.

Wiping her eyes, she took a deep breath and strode into the Dorvold Group building.

"Good afternoon, Ms. Estrella!"

"Ms. Estrella, good afternoon!"

Nodding and smiling as always, nobody could see her mood, no one knew she had just bid farewell to her youth.

"Ms. Estrella, the documents for the 2 pm meeting are ready on your desk, the East Peak boss is coming at 4 pm to discuss a project, you have a city council meeting at 5 pm, and there might be a networking event in the evening," Joshua reported as he followed her.

"Okay," Estrella's pace was brisk, the relentless workload leaving her no time to grieve or pay tribute to her past.

"Ms. Estrella, regarding the Far East..."

As Estrella’s figure receded down the hallway, she was once again the decisive Estrella, only she didn’t know when she might finally stop and live for herself.
