Estrella shot him a glance, a sly smile playing on her lips. "Jealous? Jealous that I'm sending him a text to make him notice me?"

"No way," Bryce replied, with a hint of worry. "Just sitting next to you feels like playing with fire. I've still got a few years left in me, you know."

His brother's ways of 'handling' him were still fresh in his memory from a few years back. He decided not to stir the pot any further. Besides, he had come back with a lot on his mind, and everyone could see it.

Over the next two days of meetings, Estrella and Jason crossed paths, but neither brought up that night.

By Sunday afternoon, as the group headed back to the city, Estrella didn't wait for Grayson's instructions and had Bryce drop her off first.

She didn't want to put Jason in an awkward spot or cause herself any inconvenience.

"Mommy!" Back home, Isaac ran towards Estrella, his enthusiasm almost enough to melt her heart.

Bending down to scoop Isaac into her arms, Estrella nuzzled his forehead. "Buddy, did you miss me?"

"Missed you," Isaac replied, wrapping his arms tightly around Estrella.

Despite the daily calls and video chats, he missed his mom a lot.

After clinging to Estrella for a bit, Isaac led her to the living room, presenting her with a drawing he made at preschool. "For mommy."

Taking the drawing from Isaac, Estrella chuckled. "Green clothes, green shoes, even green hair—I've turned into the Incredible Hulk."

What was her son implying? Was there a hidden meaning?

Autumn's expression darkened. "What nonsense are you spouting? A child wouldn't understand these things."

Noticing the shift, Isaac cheerfully explained, "Springtime, mommy is springtime."

His preschool teacher had asked the kids to draw spring, so Isaac had drawn a vibrantly green Estrella.

"Oh, I see," Estrella realized, her heart warming. "My son has done a wonderful job. You've captured my spirit perfectly. Mommy loves it."

If it's green, so be it! As long as her son was happy, that was all that mattered.

Estrella's approval made Isaac even happier. Grabbing his crayons, he set out to draw another picture for Estrella.

Changing into more comfortable clothes, Estrella sat down beside him to join in the fun.

"Buddy, I like red hair. Can you draw me with red hair?"

"And make my eyes a bit bigger."

"Oh my, you've made mommy look so beautiful." In reality, she was at a loss for words.

No matter how exhausting her day was or how many issues she faced, coming home to Isaac's smiling face was all the therapy she needed.
