Estrella glanced up, noticing Alex doing the same.

When Estrella’s ride arrived, a sleek Maybach, Alex's face changed. "Ms. Estrella, is that your car?" He paused, adding with a hint of skepticism, "Looks a bit old, doesn’t it?"

"Older men have their own appeal, kiddo. You wouldn’t get it," Estrella shot back.

Alex, undeterred, followed her. "Ms. Estrella, you like older guys? Just wait a few years, I’ll be right up your alley."

Estrella couldn’t help but laugh, stopping in her tracks with her arms crossed. "Alex, if you keep following me, you might not see me again after today."

Alex quickly raised his hands in surrender, stepping back. "Ms. Estrella, where do you live? I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning."

"Didn’t you notice someone’s already here for me?" Estrella laughed at his persistence.

"I don’t mind. Besides, who dates just one person these days? Putting all your energy into one relationship is how you get burned out. Ms. Estrella, you should diversify your dating portfolio."

Estrella gave him a thumbs up, "You’re something else."

Estrella had always thought of herself as progressive, but Alex's antics made her feel outpaced by the younger generation.

As they spoke, Estrella's phone rang. It was Jason.

Picking up, Jason's voice came through, cool and distant, "Not ready to leave? Still chatting?"

"Let's go, let's go," Estrella hurried along, signaling Alex to stand back as she took off like a shot.

Jason, hands on the wheel, glanced briefly at Alex in the distance and asked, "Him?"

"The new guy at work," Estrella replied.

Jason frowned. "Feels like I’ve seen him before."

Before Estrella could respond, Jason recalled, "Isn’t he the son of a former client who tried to woo you?"

Realizing Alex had pursued a law degree and was now working alongside his wife to get closer to her, Jason’s mood soured at the thought of this unexpected romantic rival.

Jason remembered Alex well, which surprised Estrella. "Jason, you’ve got a great memory! He was right in front of me, and I didn’t recognize him, yet you spotted him from afar."

Jason just chuckled.

He remembered Estrella’s admirers better than his own, it seemed.

After the laughter, Jason inquired, "Is he chasing you?"
