30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 338

At her desk, Estrella twirled around, her tone nonchalant as she said, “Oh, no biggie! I just set it to ‘Only Me.’”

Jason was speechless.

How was that any different from just deleting it?

After staring at Estrella in icy silence for what felt like an eternity, Jason got up from the bed and left the bedroom without uttering a word.

Seeing him go, Estrella called after his retreating figure, “Where are you off to this late?”

Jason didn’t bother responding, his hands buried in his jean pockets as he walked away, alone.

Estrella didn’t chase after him. She believed that you shouldn’t always coddle men; it would only make them take you for granted.

Without looking back, Jason stepped into the yard, feeling a chill as he realized Estrella hadn’t followed him. His heart sank. The thought that she might actually be looking for someone younger crossed his mind, and his mood darkened even further.

Fishing out a cigarette and lighter from his pocket, he lit up, letting rings of smoke escape into the night. The thought of how everyone seemed to adore her irked him. Couldn’t she have less of a magnetic pull on the opposite sex?

But then again, while many might have fancied Estrella, very few had the audacity to pursue her openly. The women throwing themselves at him, however, were a different story—though he never paid them any mind.

Glancing up at Estrella’s window and seeing no sign of her, Jason felt even more wronged.

Damn it, she’s out there flirting with others, blocking him on social media, and not even coming out to comfort him.

If she doesn’t make it right, if she doesn’t unblock him, he thought, he wouldn’t go back inside. He’d just stay out here in the yard.

After taking a deep drag, a gust of chilly wind made him shiver in his thin pajamas.

As he lit another cigarette for warmth, Cole’s voice suddenly came from behind, “Troubles? Did you and Estrella have a fight?”

Cole had been watching the yard from upstairs, and seeing Jason still out there, he decided to come down.

Finally, someone came out. Finally, someone to talk to. Jason felt a warmth amidst his grievances.

Turning to face Cole, Jason’s expression was full of grievance as he said, “Dad, can you give me Estrella’s paperwork? We should just go get the marriage license. I can’t settle down otherwise.”

Cole played dumb, “Aren’t you two doing just fine? Isaac likes you, what’s the rush with marriage? What if you meet someone even better later on? That'll mean more trips to the registry office. Such a hassle.”

Jason was at a loss for words.

Cole said, “It’s not like Estrella’s going anywhere.”

Digging the knife deeper, Cole was quite adept.

For a moment, Jason didn’t know how to respond.

Seeing his son’s confusion, Cole offered a bit of comfort, “Did something happen between you and Estrella? Tell me, maybe I can help you figure it out.”

Jason, feeling somewhat thoughtful, decided to spill everything about Estrella and Alex, even exaggerating the part about her deleting their photos together.
