30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 309

The buzz around town was that Serene had handed some crucial evidence to the police right before her tragic fall, suggesting a daring strategy to lock her up as bait and draw out the perp by making them feel safe.

"That's just plain nuts," he thought. "What if the perp doesn’t take the bait? What then?"

There was no way he'd risk Estrella's safety, even to catch a killer. Even if there was a slim chance the perpetrator might let their guard down, he wouldn’t gamble with Estrella's reputation. Not a chance he'd let her spend a night behind bars.

Jason's fervent objection was clear. Estrella, catching the worry in his eyes, was about to protest when Jason took his hand off the steering wheel and gently clasped hers. "Trust me, Estrella," he said with such conviction that she couldn’t help but nod. "Alright," she sighed.

Estrella was level-headed, not one to stubbornly dig in or make things harder.

Seeing her relent without a fight brought Jason a sense of relief. He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, feeling slightly at ease.

Meanwhile, at the Ledford household, Holly had just hung up the phone when her bedroom door swung open.

She turned to see who it was, her frosty and tense expression melting into a warm smile. "Hey, bro," she greeted him cheerfully, then quickly added, "Are you getting leave this year? Will you be home for Christmas?"

Korey, however, wasn’t here for pleasantries. His tone was icy as he got straight to the point, "Does Serene’s incident have anything to do with you?"

Stunned by his bluntness, Holly took a moment before replying with a forced laugh, "Bro, what are you talking about? I haven’t left the house in days. What happened to Serene?"

Her disbelief turned bitter as Korey pressed on, "Since when do you need to be physically present to pull strings?"

His accusation wiped the smile off Holly's face.

After a tense silence, she stepped closer, looking up at him with defiance, "So, brother, you think I had Serene thrown off that building? You think I set that fire seven years ago and pinned it on Estrella?"

"You believe I wanted Serene out of the way to frame Estrella because Serene was getting too close to the truth? Is that why you've looked down on me all these years? Why you didn’t even want me back in Ravenwood?"

Before Korey could respond, Holly scoffed, "If you're so convinced, why not go to the police? Have me arrested? That would surely win Estrella’s favor, maybe even her heart."

Korey was speechless, caught off-guard by her straightforwardness.

Their eyes locked, and Holly, tears brimming, accused, "Korey, I'm your sister, your family. You trust strangers over me?"

"Do you really think helping Estrella will make her fall for you?"

Korey finally spoke, distinguishing between love and gratitude, and hinting at Holly's obsession with Jason, "Love is about restraint, not driving each other mad."
