You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 98

"So the guy is a total player? Engaged but still harassing his ex? Honestly, no matter how hot he is, that's disgusting."

...

Shortly after, the director of Whispers of the Crown issued a formal public apology for using Sylvia's body double without authorization, promising that all unapproved footage would be permanently scrubbed from the final cut.

The moment the statement dropped, his comment section became a warzone.

"Boycott this garbage production. The director has zero shame."

"Oh, finally apologizing? Guess playing dead stopped working."

"Should've been cut from the start. What a waste of a phenomenal character."

Of course, not every comment on the internet magically turned positive. But the truly vicious trolls and the accounts spreading vile rumors were systematically nuked from the platforms.

Executing a crisis management campaign of this magnitude cost millions of dollars. More importantly, it required terrifying levels of influence—because without leverage, the social media platforms wouldn't have complied so aggressively.

Penelope Caldwell found Sylvia resting in the hospital. It had only been two days since Sylvia's critical head surgery.

Skipping the pleasantries, Penelope demanded, "Who did you call for help?"

"What?" Sylvia had spent the entire day resting and hadn't looked at her phone. She had no idea what was happening.

Seeing Penelope's intense expression, a jolt of panic hit her. Fearing the worst, she scrambled for her phone.

Penelope quickly clarified, "It's not bad news. The entire internet hate campaign against you has been systematically eradicated. I just want to know who you know that has this kind of god-tier pull."

It wasn't just one platform. Every major social network had scrubbed the hate and reversed the narrative simultaneously. That wasn't something you could achieve just by throwing money at a screen.

Sylvia shook her head. "I didn't call anyone."

A name briefly flickered in the back of her mind. Her eyelashes fluttered as she murmured, "Maybe Julian?"

Penelope tapped her shoulder. "Still playing games with me?"

Penelope's implication was crystal clear.

She suspected it was Ashton.

Julian's team had been dealing with the fan who shot the video. They were in the middle of negotiations, and his PR firm had even wired a down payment for the raw file.

Then, the girl had abruptly backed out.

But instead of burying the video, whoever intercepted it used it to launch a massive, coordinated defense that completely cleared Sylvia's name.

Sylvia remained silent. She remembered Ashton telling her he would fix everything. So it really was him. She couldn't help but marvel at how effortlessly the ultra-wealthy could rewrite reality.

She looked at Penelope. "I can't contact him anymore. If he needs anything, have him go through you. If he wants to be reimbursed, tell him to send you the bill."

Penelope narrowed her eyes. "I'm just worried that money isn't what he wants."
