You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 138

Sylvia didn't realize anything was wrong until she returned to her apartment a full day after that phone call.

Mabel walked out holding a jacket and asked why there was blood on it.

Sylvia finally remembered that she had just tossed the jacket onto a chair the moment she got home that rainy night, taken a shower, changed clothes, and completely forgotten about it.

Mabel had noticed the blood while prepping the laundry. It wasn't obvious on the black lining, but a closer sniff revealed a distinct, metallic scent of iron.

Sylvia gave a vague excuse, her mind flashing back to how terrible Ashton had looked that night. His lips had been pale, his face tinged with an unhealthy, ashen gray, as if he were barely holding himself together.

She also remembered how, when he had stepped close to drape the jacket over her, his fingers had felt like ice.

And it was the middle of summer.

He always ran extremely hot. Even with the wind and the fact that he'd been waiting outside for God knows how long, his hands shouldn't have been that cold.

An indescribable knot twisted tightly in her chest.

For a fleeting second, she wanted to call and check on him.

But she forced the urge down.

Let it be.

She didn't want to get tangled up with him ever again.

What he had done to Julian fundamentally shattered her trust in his character. She could never forgive him.

The Wyatt estate eventually dispatched a private doctor. Ashton spent nearly a week trapped in bed before the gashes on his back finally began to scab over.

Several times, Gideon caught him scrolling through photos of Sylvia on his phone, though his face remained a mask of stony indifference.

Gideon had tried calling Sylvia a few more times early on, but eventually, his number was blocked as well.

Ashton was fully aware but made no comment. After recovering from his severe illness, his aura had turned even sharper and more suffocatingly cold, carrying an arrogance that was downright hostile compared to before.

In the past, there had always been brave women who tried to withstand his icy demeanor to ask for his number. Now, a single dead-eyed glare from him was enough to freeze the words in their throats.

Because he had been incapacitated, Ashton's grand scheme against the Sterling family was temporarily put on ice.

The bigger problem was that Harrison had found out about it.

In Harrison's words: "He's trying to start a war. First he offends the Winslets, then he goes after the Sterlings. He acts with zero regard for the consequences. I don't claim this delusional fool for a son! Let him suffer a bit and learn his lesson."

Consequently, Harrison suspended Ashton from all his duties at Wyatt Enterprises and cut off his access to corporate resources.

"She barely has any actual acting credits, and her fans are this arrogant?"

"For real. I actually liked Sylvia before this."

Sylvia's actual fans immediately tried to do damage control in the chat:

"That guy is a paid hater posing as a fan! He's not one of us!"

"Trolls need to stop pretending! You're making our girl look bad!"

"Oh my god, haters back off! Sylvia is literally the most humble person ever!"

...

By the time they were filming the fourth episode, the production team suddenly announced they were adding a new guest.

And it was a non-celebrity.

Inside the dressing room, a few staff members were whispering.

"I heard she's a socialite with some serious backing. Her family is insanely powerful, and she's super accomplished herself—she even got her master's degree abroad."
