Sylvia felt like he was acting like a tyrannical debt collector from a bygone era.
“It's only the first day. Why are you in such a rush?”
Ashton replied at a leisurely pace over the phone, “Do you want me to do the math for you? Accompanying me for a day counts as one million. In twenty days, you'll be completely debt-free.”
“I'm sorry, I have a fiancé,” Sylvia refused icily and hung up the phone.
She was furious with Ashton.
Just as she was about to put her phone away, she received a text message from Valerie Logan.
“Mom knows I let you down. I won't bother you anymore. Take care of yourself.”
Sylvia stared at the message for a long time, but she didn't reply.
There was nothing left to say.
That afternoon, Ellie came to pick her up. When they arrived at the studio, they were surprised to see another celebrity already in the middle of a shoot.
The celebrity was Yasmine Sinclair, a somewhat famous, sexy actress who had risen to stardom overnight thanks to a hit movie.
The public's impression of her was that she remained humble and low-key despite her fame, always sporting stunning looks on various red carpets.
Sylvia had only ever seen her in the media; this was her first time meeting the woman in person.
“Yasmine, is this pressure okay?”
“Yasmine, are you thirsty? Do you want some water?”
“Yasmine, the photographer says we just need to adjust a couple of angles, and we'll be completely done.”
Yasmine had five assistants bustling around her, waiting on her hand and foot. One was handing her water, another was massaging her legs, someone else was fixing her hair, another was touching up her makeup, and one was even crouching down to help her put on her shoes.
Meanwhile, she sat there carelessly, acting like an entitled queen.
According to Yasmine herself, she was no longer in the mood to shoot unless the ice arrived.
It was a common display of arrogance in the industry. Sylvia's fame and status couldn't compare to Yasmine's right now, and it was obvious that the photography crew prioritized Yasmine, catering to her every whim.
“That stool over there. Bring it to me so I can rest my legs,” Yasmine, half-lying on the sofa, suddenly said, pointing directly at the stool Sylvia was sitting on.
Her assistant hesitated for a moment. Yasmine raised an eyebrow. “What, are you deaf? Didn't you hear me?”
The assistant was clearly used to being scolded and forced a conciliatory smile. “Yasmine, how about I find you another one? That one belongs to someone else...”
Yasmine scoffed coldly. “I want that exact one.”
Sweating profusely, the assistant reluctantly walked over to ask for it. “I'm so sorry, Sylvia. Could I borrow your stool for a little bit? We'll be done here very soon...”
Ellie was feeling indignant. “Is this the only stool in the world? Do you really have to take someone else's?”
The assistant looked like she was on the verge of tears. “I'm sorry, I'm really, really sorry...”
