Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95
Sensing an eerie presence, Felicity immediately noticed something was off in her home. Maybe it was because of the tragedies she had faced before, but she could instantly detect the danger lingering in the air.
The slightly crooked centre table and the bottle of red wine on the dining table with an empty, stained glass beside it made it clear that someone had been in the house.
A sudden click from the front door jolted her out of her reverie, she rushed and tried to open it, only to find it locked from outside. Hearing a thud from the bedroom upstairs, Felicity froze and her hair raised. She was trapped.
Springing into action, Felicity ran to the kitchen to grab a knife. For some reason, her guts told her that the intruder wasn’t nice. He was dangerous.
They had watched her pull into the driveway and locked her in her own bouse meant that this was planned. If they wanted a confrontation, they weren’t getting one this way. Felicity wasn’t going to risk her life and fight a possibly armed man. She just wasn’t that skilled enough…or courageous.
Crouching inside a kitchen cabinet, she dialled Noah’s number, only for it to go to voicemail after three rings.
Noah, currently investigating the deaths of his men with Axel, had turned off his phone to avoid distractions-a decision he would later regret
“Fuck Felicity cursed under her breath, shakily. She moved to dial lan’s number, and even Axel’s but was met with the same automated reply. She couldn’t call her father or Lilian for fear of putting them in danger, so she had to suck it up alone.
As heavy footsteps began descending the stairs, Felicity pressed herself deeper into the cabinet. From the weight of the steps, she deduced that the intruder was a man.
The sound of liquid pouring into a cup indicated he was pouring himself a drink, as if he owned the place-that ps**o,
Then she heard the TV switch on and off as if the intruder was trying to make his presence known. Felicity’s heart pounded and goosebumps rose on her skin as she heard him enter the kitchen.
Her hands trembled, covering her mouth to prevent any sounds from slipping from her lips. Her other hand gripped the knife tightly as she listened as he rinsed something in the sink-likely the glass he had just used.
A shattering sound close to her hiding spot made her jolt, and a low chuckle filled the air
“Oops,” A low voice stated, amused by the chaos he had caused. “Excuse my clumsiness, Felicity. It slipped.”
Felicity’s blood ran cold as the familiar voices filtered into her ears, the same voice that sometimes haunted her dreams. It was Kagen, the waiter she had met at the hotel during her photoshoot in City Z. She was right, that guy wasn’t ordinary. Who the f**k was he?
“I noticed a knife is missing. Smart girl,” Kagen continued. “You didn’t have to hide, you know. I’m not going to hurt you, not yet. It’s rude to ignore a guest. What a terrible hostess.”
Felicity wanted to tell him to f**k off, but she didn’t want to reveal her location to him, fearing she wouldn’t be strong enough to fight him off if he attacked.
She heard his footsteps echo through the kitchen, opening some cupboards, searching for her.
“I’ve been watching you on the news. You are as brilliant as you’re beautiful. I’m both impressed and jealous. Noah really hit the jackpot, didn’t he?” He said with a twinge of anger, slamming another cupboard close. Felicity could hear him gradually approaching her. “A bright light like you never should have met darkness like him. So sad.” Another cupboard slammed shut.

Felicity grew increasingly irritated as she struggled to make sense of Kagen’s ramblings. It was bad enough having a ps**o in het home, but a ranting one was even worse
Things quieted down, and Felicity heard Kagen sigh. “Maybe she isn’t in the kitchen,” he muttered. Felicity held her breath as he started to walk away. Just as she was about to sigh in relief, a ringing tone enveloped the room.
“S**it,” Felicity whispered, tears welling up in her eyes as she hung up the incoming call from Noah and silenced her phone. But it was too late-Kagen already knew where she was hiding
Suddenly, she heard him approach the cabinet she was hiding. She aimed her knife at the door, preparing to lunge at him if he opened it
Three knocks sounded on the door, and with every knock, her heart leaped in fear. “Found you,” His voice sounded from the other side. “That must be your husband, which means I have to go.” he continued, his voice fading as he started leaving the kitchen. With one final remark, the room fell silent: “Tell Noah his security sucks.”
Felicity only breathed again when she heard the front door slam shut. She waited for a while, fearing he might return and grab her, but he never did.
Trembling, she finally mustered up the courage to crawl out of her hiding spot. Opening the cabinet, she crawled out only to be met with a stinging pain in her left palm. She screeched and flinched in agony as her hand pressed against the shards of glass scattered in front of the cabinet.
She watched blood sip from her broken skin, small glasses embedded in her soft palm.
That p*ho had deliberately broken it right in front of her cabinet, which meant he knew where she was hiding all along and was only trying to mess with her.
Sucking up the pain and ignoring the bl**dy mess, she grabbed her phone to call Noah, still not daring to venture out of the kitchen. After just one ring, Noah picked up, his voice laced with urgency, “Felicity, are you alright? Where are you?!”
Hearing his voice, only one breathless reply came to mind, “Kagen said your security sucks and I totally agree.”
