Felicity had meticulously gone through the file Noah had given her, carefully examining each line of every paragraph to ensure she didn’t miss any potentially valuable information.
When she had requested lan’s investigation, she hadn’t expected such a comprehensive report in such a short time. The depth and darkness of the information she discovered were beyond her imagination, and some of it she wished she hadn’t known.
But by now, Felicity wasn’t surprised. How else had the Ellsworths risen to become the most prominent family in the country? They didn’t achieve that status by hosting tea parties.
She wondered if they conducted such thorough investigations on everyone they encountered. If so, they likely had information on numerous individuals in the city.
Despite the unsettling nature of the findings, Felicity saw this as a valuable tool to deal with her enemies.
Her chilling, dark eyes betrayed no emotion as she addressed Mariam, “Mariam, isn’t it? Do you realise that breaching confidentiality is a crime?”
Mariam almost flinched when Felicity mentioned her name, as she couldn’t recall ever introducing herself to her. Her brows furrowed in confusion, “Excuse me?”
“Breach of confidentiality, violation of privacy-I could get you arrested, you know?” Felicity’s tone was stern and unwavering.
Mariam, feeling increasingly anxious and confused, didn’t understand what Felicity was talking about. This was the first time Felicity had directly spoken to her, and she struggled to comprehend the accusations being thrown her way. “What are you talking about?”
Felicity, relishing in Mariam’s bewildered state, muttered casually, “Hah, I’m listing some of your transgressions.”
“I don’t understand. Have I offended you in any way? If so, I’m sorry,” Mariam quickly apologised, her head bowed in
submission.
Felicity sighed, her patience wearing thin. “Sorry won’t cut it. You have to pay for your crimes, she declared, swiping her phone open and handing it to Mariam. “These pieces of information date back five years. They contain evidence of every marriage you’ve broken, every fraudulent act you’ve committed, and every life you’ve ruined.”
Mariam’s confusion turned to shock and horror as she looked down at the screen, confronted with photos of her seducing married men, evidence of her stealing important documents, and footage of her receiving money from shady individuals. If any of these were to be exposed, she was as good as dead.
Her eyes widened in shock, and she gasped audibly. How had Felicity obtained this information? She had taken every precaution to ensure her trail was untraceable.
“Now, do you understand what I’m talking about? Felicity’s voice was cold and calculating as she slid a photograph across the table. “While you rot in jail, who will take care of your little boy? I’ve heard the foster system isn’t great nowadays”
With a thud, Mariam dropped to her knees, her eyes welling up with tears as she saw the picture of her terminally ill son.
“Please, I’m sorry. Don’t do this, I beg you. I promise I’ve changed my ways. I no longer engage in such activities. Give me a chance to redeem myself,” she begged desperately.
Felicity gazed at her coldly. This seemingly innocent lady had committed a multitude of crimes and was still engaged in

wrongdoing, yet she dared to claim that she had changed her ways?
Mariam was the one Caster had hired to spy on her. She was the only one in the room when Lilian informed her about the Everspring contract. Did they think she wouldn’t find out?
“I wouldn’t have cared about your past actions if you hadn’t crossed the line, Felicity replied icily. “You went too far when you started reporting my every move to your employer. You clearly don’t understand who you’re messing with…”
Mariam’s hands began to tremble in fear at the mention of her employer.
Seeing Mariam’s look of surprise, Felicity spoke with a tone of disdain, “You think I don’t know you’re working for Caster?” she scoffed. “I wonder how he’ll react when he finds out that I know about his little spy. You’ve been working with him for six months, so I guess you know what he does to people who are no longer of use to him.”
“Please! I beg you, don’t do this. My son was diagnosed with cancer, and Mr. Walker promised to treat my son if I did this. What was I supposed to do? Watch my only child die?!”
Felicity looked down at Mariam, her expression unreadable. “What if I told you that your son hasn’t been receiving
treatment?”
Mariam’s neck snapped up, her eyes wide with shock. “What?!”
Felicity produced some documents, “Your son hasn’t been receiving treatment for the past six months. Caster hasn’t hired any doctors to look after him.”
Mariam shook her head frantically, denying the truth. “You’re lying. I saw my little boy, he was getting better,” she insisted, recalling the times she had visited the hospital and seen her son smiling and playing with toys.
“That was only due to the numerous painkillers they pumped into his system, Felicity explained, gesturing for Mariam to look at the file. It contained her son’s medical record, which showed that he wasn’t getting any better; in fact, his condition had worsened.
She couldn’t stop the tear that slid down her cheek. Her heart felt like it broke into pieces. After everything she had done, how could Caster do this to her innocent child?
Felicity felt a sense of satisfaction wash over her as she observed Mariam in this state. She didn’t feel pity for the woman because Mariam had inflicted worse upon others in the past. This was karma.
Now that she had obtained the results she desired, it was time to move to the next phase of her plan. “Let’s make a deal. I promise to give your child the proper treatment he deserves if you become my spy instead.”
Still in tears, Mariam asked, “And how am I supposed to believe you? How do I know you won’t do the same as Caster?” “You don’t,” Felicity replied blandly. “But if you refuse, you and your son are as good as dead. So choose, life or death?”
Mariam chewed on her lower lip in contemplation. She knew that if Caster found out that Felicity had discovered her, he would try to dispose of her and her son to cover his tracks. That was just the type of person he was.
Her
we fell on her son’s picture, and a whimper escaped her lips as she came to a compromise. She looked up at Felicity
“What do you want me to do?”
“Wise choice,”
y nodded. “Act like nothing happened and continue reporting to him. When he tells you the next stage of his plan, you have to report it to me. Meanwhile, I will ensure your child receives treatment.”
“And how will you do that? Caster’s men keep an eye on him twenty-four seven.”

Felicity tilted her head back in laughter. “He doesn’t even treat your child. You think he is truly watching a kid he knows will die soon? Don’t be naive. He has better things to do with his time and money.”
This was something Felicity had learned from Caster. He didn’t waste his time on insignificant pawns. The only pawn Caster had ever invested his time and energy in was none other than her, and when he got what he wanted, he abandoned her like he did the rest.
“Do we have a deal?”
After weighing the pros and cons, without hesitation, Mariam answered, “Yes”
Felicity nodded as she started to leave for her shoot. But as she reached the doorway, she seemed to have remembered something, and she turned to warn Mariam, “Before you think of betraying me, remember that your life and the life of your son are in my palm. Act a bit off and I will not hesitate to take it
Put simply, the day Mariam decided to switch sides was the day she was going to die.
Mariam’s face turned pale. She had always underestimated Felicity, thinking she was just a pushover who couldn’t tell right from wrong. But now, it seemed Felicity had managed to deceive everyone, including her enemies, into dancing to her tune. When they finally realised the true nature of the person they were dealing with, it would likely be too late.
