Chapter 42
Felicity felt content with Lilian’s recommendation and readily agreed to proceed with Everspring.
“Fantastic! I’ll contact Everspring right away. Lilian exclaimed before hurrying off to make the call.
As Felicity’s makeup was completed and she changed into her outfit, whispers began to circulate around the set. Turning. she spotted Rita entering, appearing visibly drained but attempting to maintain a facade of indifference.
Felicity was surprised that Rita hadn’t been dropped from the project after all the drama. In truth, she would have preferred it that way. One less adversary to contend with. It seemed the director was more lenient than Felicity had assumed, perhaps aware of the consequences Rita would face otherwise.
When they locked eyes, to her surprise Rita didn’t give the glare she usually did. She just walked past Felicity wordlessly.
Today’s shoot revolved primarily around both of them. The scene was intended to showcase the deep friendship between their characters during challenging times.
Having observed the tension between them over the past while, the crew was anxious about how the scene would unfold. Felicity herself wondered how they would manage to pull it off.
Before long, Rita was prepared, and they both geared up for their scenes. In this particular scene, Dahlia and Tina found themselves trapped together in a classroom. Believing it to be their end, they began to divulge their deepest desires and offer each other comfort.
Action! The director called out.
As Dahlia slumped against the wall, sliding down to the floor with evident dejection, the exhaustion in her eyes was palpable. After witnessing the deaths of her classmates one by one, she had lost all sense of purpose. What was the point, anyway? The world outside was hardly any better.
“Dahlia, we need to get up and find a way out of here!” Tina urged, attempting to pull her up.
She shrugged off Tina’s hand. Just leave me alone. Where do you expect us to go? The corridors are filled with madness.”
Tina sighed, taking a seat beside her. “So, what’s your plan, then, Smarty-pants?”
“Don’t call me that!” Dahlia snapped and Tina’s face contorted into a disgusted grimace.
“Cut!” the director exclaimed, clearly annoyed. “Rita, you’re supposed to act surprised, not disgusted.”
“Her spit landed on my face,” Rita grimaced.
“No, it didn’t,” Felicity interjected, attempting to defend herself.
“Yes, it did. Right on the tip of my nose, Rita insisted.
“Ugh, you are overreacting. Felicity rolled her eyes.
Rita looked like she wanted to say more but the director interrupted them, “Okay, let us take that scene again. Ready?
Action!”
“So, what do you suggest we do now, Smarty-pants?”

Chapter 42
“Don’t call me that!” Dahlia-spapped.
Tina withdrew slightly, a hint of concern flickering in her eyes. She sighed, falling silent beside Dahlia. Observing Dahlia’s despondent expression, she attempted to lift her spirits. “I always dreamed of being a musician,” she confessed.
Dahlia found Tina’s sudden revelation odd and unexpected. “And?”
Tina straightened up suddenly. “I have a great voice, but my parents insisted that singing would lead nowhere, so they pushed me into becoming a doctor. But I can sing for you. Do Re Fa Mi So La Ti Do…”
Felicity couldn’t help but snicker, breaking character when Rita stumbled over the notes. “Even her character is stupid,” she muttered under her breath, but Rita overheard.
“What’s that supposed to mean?!”
“Cut!” the director shouted again, massaging his forehead in frustration. “Rita, it’s Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do, not whatever you just said. You got the line wrong.”
“I’m sorry, sir, but I didn’t study music in school. However, that doesn’t give her the right to call me stupid,” Rita retorted defensively.
“Only someone clueless wouldn’t know the solfege notes. It’s so basic.”
“How dare yo-”
“That’s enough!” The director intervened, cutting off their argument. “Let’s try again.”
The shoot continued to be marred by interruptions. Whether it was Rita forgetting her lines or their discomfort during hug, something always seemed to get in the way.

By the end of the day, the director bought them a single beef burger and insisted they share it while discussing their issues and bonding. He instructed them not to leave their seats until they had resolved their differences.
After a few minutes of awkward silence, Felicity’s stomach growled, prompting her to offer to split the burger. However, Rita slapped her hand away.
“Why should you do it? I should. I’m older, Rita asserted.
“Since when?” Felicity thought they were born the same year.
“Since forever. I’m one year older than you but I pretend to be younger sometimes.” She shrugged.
Felicity raised her brow but didn’t comment as she left her to share the burger. Felicity got and devoured her half in no time.
“Honestly, you’re the better Orion, Rita blurted out unexpectedly, breaking the silence between them.
“You’re only saying that because you got a taste of your own medicine. How does it feel to be slandered online?” Felicity retorted.
“It sucks, actually,” Rita admitted with a shrug, wiping her mouth as she ate. “Everyone I know has abandoned me. It was an eye-opening experience.”
“It’s good that you learned something from it,” Felicity remarked
Rita hesitated before continuing, “I misunderstood you. I guess I was a little jealous because you’re beautiful and rich. But

now that I think about it, I don’t really have a problem with you she admitted, adding, “But don’t get the wrong idea, we’re not friends. I still dislike you a little.”
Felicity remained silent, inwardly noting that if Rita knew the truth-that Felicity was one of the people who spread her videos pnline-she wouldn’t be sitting here peacefully chatting. She wasn’t sure why Rita suddenly switched from being mean to nice, but she wasn’t about to let her guard down. This could very well be another elaborate scheme.
“If we’re done ‘bonding, let’s get back to filming. I need some rest, Felicity muttered, standing up from her seat.
Rita followed suit, extending her hand for a handshake, Felicity eyed it warily before reluctantly accepting it.
“I’ll tolerate you for now,” Rita declared.
“I’ll try,” Felicity responded.
Suddenly, Rita exclaimed, “What the hell?!”
Felicity threw her a questioning look but Rita was staring at something behind her. Felicity slowly turned to see what she gazing at and was stunned.
What the hell indeed.
