Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 213

Chapter 213
Felicity jolted up from her bed, her eyes wide open, her pulse pounding in her ears. She was flustered, her cheeks flushed with a feverish heat as the dream replayed in her mind, a dirty dream of Noah.
“Dammit!” she hissed, her voice laced with frustration. How could her subconsciousness betray her like that, allowing Noah’s words to come true, even in her dreams?
She groaned, sitting up on the bed. Her hair was a tangle of knots, her face marked with creases from the pillow, her eyes heavy with the weight of sleeplessness.
Nobody needed to tell her how dishevelled she must look from tossing and turning all night.
The memory of their clash last night was still fresh in her mind. The feel of his hands on her body, his breath against her skin, the way he had kissed her with a ferocity that left her breathless-it was all etched into her memory and almost drove her crazy.
After he’d left, the minutes had stretched like hours, as she lay there, her thoughts reeling from everything. From the wrong contract to the steamy night, everything felt surreal, but the sore of her lips reminded her that it had indeed happened.
Noah had said he loved her-a revelation that both stunned and terrified her. And his promise to torture her till she confessed her own budding feelings for him bothered her more than she cared to admit.
Was he really capable of carrying out his threat? Could she hold out against him?
Though she wasn’t one to back down from a challenge, the cold conviction in his eyes and the resolve in his words had shaken her to the core. She began doubting if she could win against him.
Maybe she shouldn’t have provoked him last night.
The biggest shock of the night was definitely his confession. Had he been truthful? Did he really love her? Or was this just another manipulation, a ploy to get her to do his bidding?
The thought of it sent a shiver down her spine, a chill that shook her to her core. She didn’t know which possibility was more terrifying: that he loved her, or that he was lying.
Felicity groaned again, holding her head in her palm as it ached. This was all too much for her to bear. What was she supposed to do now?
The ping of her phone provided a welcome distraction from her thoughts. It was her dad giving her the location for their hangout. Just what she needed.
Rising from her bed, she made her way to the wardrobe, her fingers skimming over the hangers as she searched for an outfit suitable for a day of golfing. Her father’s idea of a good time was golfing, she thought in disdain, he was getting old.
Still, it might not have been the most exciting, but she was grateful for the opportunity to spend time with him. And besides, she thought with a wry smile, it was the perfect chance to gather information.
After digging through some clothes, she found an appropriate outfit and got ready. She even paused to add a dash of makeup before going downstairs for breakfast.
“Good morning,”
She heard Noah say as she descended the stairs, the scent of fresh coffee and toast wafting through the air.
He was seated at the table, being served by Cassandra, dressed in a suit with a black trench coat. His hair was styled perfectly, his posture impeccable as he picked up a cup of coffee with one hand while engrossed with something on his phone.

“Morning,” she replied warily, taking her seat at the far end of the table, creating a physical distance between them as if he would jump at her at any moment. She folded her hands in her lap, her expression cool, reserved.

Noah cast her a fleeting glance before concentrating back on his phone. His nonchalant gaze surprisingly stung Felicity. She was not used to being ignored by him.
He didn’t question her choice of seat and went on eating as if she wasn’t present, which made her furrow her brow. He had been all over her last night. Why was he ignoring her now? Not that she cared.
She looked away from him, refusing to let him sense her discomfort, her eyes instead finding Cassandra as she received her food.
“Thank you,” she murmured, taking a bite of the delicious omelette. She needed strength for the sport.
Halfway through her meal, Noah had not lifted his gaze from his phone or said a word to her. Her patient ran thin.
She cleared her throat, breaking the silence. “I’m going out with my dad today.” She announced, her voice carrying a note of defiance, of challenge. “Thought you should know.”
“Okay,” Came Noah’s blunt reply. He still didn’t look at her.
With a dismissive huff, she pushed her plate away, her appetite suddenly gone. There was no reason to stay in this uncomfortable silence, to endure his icy indifference any longer. She would eat at the country club.
Pushing back her chair, she rose to her feet. Without another word, she left the Villa.
Good riddance, she thought.
Felicity pulled up to the Country Club in a sour mood, but she schooled her features and brightened up before facing her Dad.
Neverland Country Club was one of the top five clubs in the city. It was formerly owned by the Harringtons and was an affiliate of H-gym, but their insensitive son sold it a while back to Henry Lyon, her dad’s best friend, who brought the rundown place back to life.
Now, it was a testament to the power and influence of the wealthy elite, a place where the rich and powerful played and mingled, a playground for the privileged.
It was understandable why her Dad had chosen Neverland for their meeting. She would have done the same too. It was a place where they could be seen but not scrutinised, a place where they could speak freely without fear of prying eyes.
The place was less crowded than other clubs and the likelihood of bumping into pesky socialites was low. Uncle Henry was also picky on who he gave memberships.
It was refreshing.
As she stepped out of the car, the warm air enveloped and she spotted her Dad immediately.
