Chapter 209
Felicity turned to face Vicky. “Why are you telling me this?”
“Noah returned to us with his parents. They took us away from the slums, changed our lives for the better,” Vicky continued, her gaze steady on Felicity’s face.
Felicity’s words dripped with skepticism as she retorted, “At what price? Both of your lives are constantly in danger. Ian’s been turned into a killing machine, trapped by Noah’s side. It sounds like exploitation to me.” She arched an eyebrow, daring Vicky to refute her.
Vicky’s face hardened. “They never forced lan and me to do anything,” she insisted. “Everything we did was by choice, born out of our love for them. “Finnick and Rebecca offered to send us abroad while they dealt with their family issues but we refused. Standing by them was the least we could do after everything they did.”
Felicity stood in the middle of the kitchen staring at Vicky, trying to comprehend her story. Why was she telling her all this? Hadn’t she made it clear she didn’t trust the Elsworths?
In her mind, the siblings‘ sad past was inconsequential. The fact that the Elsworths had shown kindness to them didn’t negate the fact that they were dangerous and duplicitous.
“I’m happy for you, Vicky,” Felicity responded. “But your story doesn’t mean shit to me.”
If Vicky was offended by her words, she didn’t show it. Instead, she sighed and said, “The point is that Noah harbours no evil intent towards you neither does his family. He has been through a lot. But he never let that change him into something ugly and selfish. That should tell you the kind of man he is. All we want to do is to help you-”
“All he wants is to help himself and after that, he’ll probably dump me,” Felicity cut in aggressively. The wound of Caster’s betrayal was still fresh, the memory still raw. She wouldn’t let herself be used and thrown away again.
But Vicky was undeterred, her voice soft yet unyielding. “I don’t know who hurt you. But not everyone wants to use you. I can’t help but feel like your anger is just an excuse to hide your real feelings.”
Felicity was caught off guard. The idea that she might be hiding her true feelings felt like a punch to the gut.
Without a word, she turned on her heel and made for the door. But as she rounded the corner, she bumped into Noah, Ian and Axel. Her eyes narrowed. “Were you eavesdropping?”
“You guys weren’t exactly quiet,” Noah responded. Suddenly, he frowned and reached out to cup her face gently, his thumb brushing away a tear she hadn’t even realised had escaped. “Hey, why are you crying?”
Crying? Felicity touched her face and found out she was indeed crying. Annoyed, she slapped Noah’s hand away. “Don’t touch me.”
Noah nodded, taking a step back from her, he let his hand fall to his side. His gaze, once filled with concern, now held a hint of confusion and frustration.
“Vicky, I asked you to talk to her, not to make her cry,” he said, his voice low and steady. “You’re supposed to be helping me here.”
Vicky rolled her eyes, looking away from him. Ian went and stood beside her
Felicity wiped her face, refusing to look weak in front of them. She murmured, “It would really be a shame if all your attempts to probe me went down the drain.”
“What?” Noah asked.
Felicity lifted her head, her gaze sharpening as she spoke. “If you’re looking for Kagen, quit searching the woods. He’s by

ocean, probably on a private or abandoned beach. I’d start with one that has lots of rocks.” she said, watching as the revelation sent a ripple of surprise and realisation through the room.
Everyone’s expression shifted slightly.
Satisfied, she brushed past them to go to her room when Noah grabbed her hand, stopping her.
“How do you know that?”
Felicity turned to face him. “He told me. He said I’d like the beach by his mansion. Jokes on him, I hate beaches. But he wasn’t lying. It was one of the few honest things he’s told me.” She had remembered Kagen’s exact words during the drive. K had unknowingly spilled one of his biggest secrets to her. His hideout.
Felicity spotted pebbles in his car. At the time, she thought nothing of it. But there’s no way he could’ve gotten them in his car unless he was near a rocky area. It was a small detail, casily overlooked, but it could prove to be the key they’d been searching for.
As she turned and made her way back to her room, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief. With that information in their hands, she knew they would be off her back for a while
While they looked for Kagen’s hideout, she would find out his identity and bring him down.
