Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 175

Chapter 175
Felicity and Noah laid in bed side by side while Axel and Ian were downstairs doing God knows what. The silence between them was comfortable until Felicity broke it.
“I don’t mean to intrude but what happened to Axel’s parents?” Felicity asked. It was a question that has itched her for some time now and she was curious.
Noah was silent for a moment before he answered, “They died when he was little. Car accident. My mom and dad raised him as their own.”
Felicity nodded and didn’t ask for more details. The Elsworths were very secretive so she thought Axel’s parents were on vacation or something. Thinking back at it, she must have been very little when Axel’s parents died so it made sense why it was not made known to her.
“What about Ian?” Felicity asked again.
“That’s not my story to tell,” Noah kissed her on the head gently. “But my parents gave birth to one child but ended raising four. We three and Vicky grew up together.”
“That’s so cute,” Felicity said wistfully. “You guys must have had such a great childhood.”
up
Noah gave a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. If only she knew the shit they had to go through. He sighed and didn’t say anything.
“Go to sleep,” He whispered.
Felicity obliged and closing her eyes with a yawn. The small nap she took earlier was not nearly enough to alleviate the stress the day brought her. In no time, she drifted off to sleep. Noah waited for a couple of minutes, making sure she was deeply asleep before carefully making his way downstairs to Ian and Axel who were still awake.
“We have a few things to discuss,” Noah stated.
“I’ll start,” Ian said, the former playful look on his face had vanished, replaced by a serious one. “Our men are severely slacking. What happened today, wouldn’t have happened if they were serious. Can anyone just walk into this estate now?”
“I’ll take responsibility-”
“Stop taking responsibility for them. The sooner they own up to their incompetence, the better.” Axel started but Noah cut him off. “Have every man around this Estate reassigned or demoted. If they can’t protect Felicity against a scheming woman, how can they defend her against K?”
Axel sighed. “I understand,” he said. “But in their defence, you drove Georgia in. They weren’t supposed to be guarded against you.”
“Excuses, excuses,” Noah said with a wave of a hand and Axel rolled his eyes. “Any update about K?”
Axel lightened up instantly. “We attacked one of their hideouts and captured a few of those so-called angels of death. We still don’t know where K’s location is, but rest assured we’ll get him soon.”
Jan chimed in. “And also I advise everyone to watch their backs, especially you, Axel. Since we’ve attacked, K will surely retaliate. If any of you get shot and die because you were being stupid or careless, I’m not attending your funeral.”
“Yeah, right,” Axel scoffed.
Ian scowled. “I’m serious. Die and see.”
“What about the search on K’s identity?” Noah inquired.

Axel’s tone turned grave and an edge to it. “K is a ghost, Noah.” He said, shaking his head. Then he brought some files and scattered them on the centre table. “From what I’ve gathered, he has multiple identities. K has been a white man, dark and asian. No one knows what he genuinely looks like and the only person he has ever approached without any disguise is Felicity,” Axel brushed his hair from his face. “He once said his real name was stolen from him. He might have been telling the truth.”
“Really?” Ian perked up
“K said he’s met the three of us which means he has been in this city from a young age, probably born here,” Axel paused before continuing, “His mannerism is that of an elite therefore he was born and bred in one of the many wealthy families in City B, probably from the same circle of the Orion family. It would explain his affiliation with Felicity.”
Ian picked one of the pictures on the table. It showed a picture of a man in his early thirties or late twenties, with brown hair, brown eyes, and brown skin, holding a cart in the grocery store. “This is K?”
“In his disguise, yes.”
“What are the chances he really has blond hair and blue eyes like he showed us at the meeting?” Ian asked.
“Four out of ten. He can’t be trusted.” Axel responded.
The three of them sat in silence, contemplating, before Ian spoke up again. “He is from a wealthy family and someone stole his identity. Does that mean we are looking for an illegitimate child that died or was thrown away?”
“Who would want to steal the identity of an illegitimate child? From his arrogance, I bet he is a legitimate son:” Noah stated. Judging from the way K behaved, Noah knew he would have been a legitimate child.
“Which family would reject a legitimate son?”
Noah shook his head. “What if he wasn’t rejected? They might have thought he died or went missing?”
“I don’t know of any socialite whose son went missing in the last thirty years,” Axel stated.
“Exactly,” Ian clapped his hands at the moment of revelation. “Because he was replaced. They couldn’t afford to let the world know that their sun was missing because it would have affected their social standing. If he was dead, it would have been a different case, but a missing person could always be found.”
“Which sick parent would do that?” Noah grimaced at the thought of a parent replacing their son with another just because of reputation, and Ian shrugged. The world was a cruel place, no wonder K was so twisted.
“We only met Vicky and Ian when we were eight, and we started receiving threats from K when we were fifteen. My bet is K got lost within those seven years and we were unfortunate to have met him then.” Axel deducted. The room went quiet once
more.
Somewhere in the city, there was someone living K’s life—a stolen life—and they needed to find out who that person was.
Ian sighed. “This is more complicated than we thought.”
“We are making progress. We’ve managed to narrow down the search. We’ll find him soon. I can feel it.” Noah reassured them before yawning. “We should get some sleep. We have work tomorrow.”
Axel and Ian nodded, and cleared up the table, tucking all the files and pictures away. While Noah went upstairs and joined Felicity underneath the covers. In no time, everyone was fast asleep.
