Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 159

Chapter 159
Two days later. Felicity was discharged from the hospital. She had pressed Noah to let her leave earlier than scheduled because she was sick of the hospital environment. It brought bad memories,
When they arrived home, Noah made sure she was on proper bed rest like the doctor instructed and didn’t let her do anything remotely stressful
“But my company…” She tried to argue but Noah cut her off.
“Your dad will take care of it in the meantime.”
“You told my dad about my injury?” Felicity’s brow shot up in surprise.
Shortly after she woke up in the hospital, she had seen the news about the gunshot, but no one had any information about the person who was hurt, and every video of the scene was taken down.
She knew Noah was responsible and was glad since she didn’t want unnecessary attention. She only hoped no one connected her sudden disappearance at work with the incident.
The news broadcast called the incident ‘bandits on rampage’ who shot into the crowd for the fun of it. There was also word that the police were diligently searching for the perpetrators responsible but Felicity knew they weren’t going to find anything. The police would only chase shadows.
But Felicity was quite surprised Noah would inform her father about her true injury. How were they going to explain the gunshot to him? She didn’t want her father to worry.
“What did you tell him?” She asked.
“That those bandits shot into the crowd and it hit you by mistake, Noah answered but it was a lie. When Noah had informed Connor about Felicity’s condition, the man set off over the phone, demanding the truth.
Just as Noah expected, he didn’t buy the lousy story the media passed around. Connor had arranged a special meeting later today where they could talk.
Felicity sighed, burying herself deeper in the bed. She was exhausted. Caster, Georgia, now Kagen, she had to watch her back thrice as much. And there was also the nagging feeling that Noah was hiding something from her that she needed to uncover. It was all taking a toll on her.
“Get some sleep, I will be going out for some work but a nurse is around to assist you in case you need anything.” Noah told her, pressing a kiss on her forehead when he saw her starting to blink sleepily.
“Safe journey.” She managed to say before falling completely asleep, her medicine starting to kick in
Noah tucked her in before giving instructions to the nurse to take good care of her. He also tightened the security around the house to ensure history did not repeat itself before leaving
It was two in the afternoon and he had quite a number of things to get done, things he had put on hold while Felicity was in the hospital. It was time to deal with some business.
But first, he had a furious father-in-law to face.
For this meeting, Connor had picked a hotel room which had left Noah confused at first but he decided not to ask questions so he wouldn’t pi*** the old man off more.
Noah arrived at the arranged room and knocked. The door was opened by Connor himself and he let him in. They both settled on the couch, sitting opposite each other.

Chapter 150
“Why a hotel
“Hotels are more private.” Connor replied bluntly.
Noah sat still, unwavering, as Connor assessed every inch of his body. “You look fine.”
“I’m very well.”
“Then explain how my daughter ended up with a bullet in her hack,” Connor gritted out, going straight to the point. “And don’t you tell me another bandit story? I know you had something to do with it.”
Hearing Connor’s stern voice, Noah wished he had brought lan here to sweet-talk him out of the situation. Ian was always the one good with words.
“You’re right. It’s entirely my fault.” Noah confessed, holding Connor’s gaze. “I’m sure you are aware that my family has a lot of enemies. But it was never my intention for Felicity to be caught in the crossfire.”
Banging the table, Connor snapped, “She got shot, Noah. You let her get shot and I don’t care what your intentions were. She’s the only one I have left and if you can’t take care of her, I’ll gladly take her back to my mansion where she will be safe.”
Connor paused then continued. “It’s my fault. If I had known earlier, I wouldn’t have let her marry the most dangerous man in the country. Yes, Noah Elsworth, I’m aware of the gang your family runs. I thought she would be alright seeing how happy she was with you but this… this changes everything. Maybe you should divorce her.”
Gang? If Axel had heard that, he would have probably wrung Connor’s neck for calling his underground organisation a mere
gang.
Noah kneaded his forehead and clicked his tongue as he felt a headache starting to build. He was trying his best to hold himself from lashing out knowing he was the one at fault here.
“Divorce her,” Noah repeated, shaking his head. The thought of divorce made him want to kill someone, “I’d rather not.”
“You-
“You didn’t do a good job at taking care of her either, Mister Orion. Why should I send her back to you?” Noah arched a
brow.
Connor paused, furrowing his brow. “What do you mean?”
“You let your daughter be manipulated for years by your sister and her daughter and didn’t even realise it. They dragged her name in the mud and turned her into a nobody. They conspired with your greatest enemy and planned to have her drugged and raped several times,” Noah stated without mercy, sitting up in his chair, enjoying the look of shock on Connor’s face. “1 may have made one mistake, Mister Orion, but you have made millions.”
Connor sputtered, his mind reeling on the new information. He shook his head in denial. “What are you on about? Patricia may have tried to kill me but she was always good to Felicity along with Georgia. And what do you mean by drugged and raped? You think I wouldn’t know if someone tried to harm my child!” He concluded, red-faced with anger
Noah shook his head in disappointment. Connor was so gullible, it was laughable. “When last did you really talk to Felicity? Maybe if you had a decent conversation with her you wouldn’t be totally oblivious to everything happening in her life! You
the truth yourself.” don’t believe me? You have the power and money, find o
Lost for words, Connor went silent for a moment. His gaze on Noah was scalding as he tried to gurge if Noah was bluffing or not but Noah held his gaze unwaveringly.
No, that couldn’t be the truth His own daughter was drugged and almost raped? Impossible he refused to accept it
“Look, I don’t care if you believe me or not. That’s not why I came here.” Noah blurted, trying to calm himself down. “You are right, I might be the most dangerous man in the country and I have enemies that are after my neck. Believe me or not, it

“So what do you want from me?”
