Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 118

Chapter 118
After posing for the camera a couple of times, Felicity made her way into the mansion.
The sound of soft classical music from a collection of violinists, cellists, and trumpeters welcomed her as she stepped in. There was a soft glow in the room from the numerous chandeliers hung on the high ceiling.
The laughter of men and women filled the air, softly chattering as they gathered around black draped tables decorated with flowers.
Felicity observed a stark social divide within the crowd, with individuals of similar standing gravitating towards each other while the bold ones attempted to court the favour of more influential guests. Their laughter was the loudest in the room.”
Fathers dragged their daughters along in hopes of catching the attention of eligible bachelors in order to form an alliance while men of lower status were busy flirting around. In other words, the whole room was a mess.
As Felicity moved through the room, she sensed the eyes of those nearby, recognizing that she was likely the youngest businesswoman present.
With a blank face, she navigated through the crowd trying to spot anyone she knew but alas, she didn’t know many people in the business world so the familiar faces were scarce.
Resigning, she made a beeline for the snack table adorned with an array of exquisite pastries. The Princetons went all out. Picking out some macaroons, she started munching on them as she tried to gauge every reaction in the room.
She noticed some young business men were summoning courage to approach her so she put on a smile.
“Miss Orion, I am Benjamin Jones. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Benjamin greeted, trying to muster a charming smile but failed miserably as it resembled a grimace.
Felicity recognized his name. He was the current CEO of Jones&Jacks, a famous gambling house. The same gambling one, the former owner of Mario, lost all his money. Their business was known for ruining many people’s lives. Felicity didn’t want to be associated with him.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Benjamin.” She answered curtly.
“Call me Ben.” He said with a wink.
“I’d rather not,” Felicity grimaced before walking away from him, leaving him standing in embarrassment.
A few distance away, an overweight man blocked her path, flashing a grin that revealed a set of unattractive brown teeth, some had been replaced by gold after they had probably fallen out.
“Miss Orion, you came! I’m Victor Harrington, the owner of H-gym. You look beautiful tonight.” Victor said drawing closer to Felicity.
Felicity tried to hide her disgust. The Harringtons had a small chain of popular gyms around the country. The irony of an obese man owning a gym chain was not lost on her.
It was a miracle their business stood for this long. Victor was a certified glutton and he would eat the business down in five years.
Felicity shook her head in dismay. “Nope.” She said bluntly to his face before turning the other way and quickly disappearing into the crowd before any other unpleasant person could stop her.
Fortunately, she managed to reach the other side of the room without any interruption. Sighing with relief, she grabbed a glass of champagne from a passing waiter and emptied it in one go.

“Slow down, what’s the rush” A voice behind her asked.
Felicity turned to see Joel Princeton standing behind her in a white suit that contrasted with his jet black hair and eyes.
Joel was the second son of the Princetons, and he was into real estate unlike his older brother, Noel, who was managing the family business.
From what she knew, Joel was pretty much laid back.
Sensing no malice or ulterior motives from him, Felicity smiled and replied, “Well you see. I am supposed to make useful alliances today, but I seem to have terrible luck.”
“It happens to the best of us,” Joel flagged down a waiter and took a glass for himself. He took a sip before asking, “So, business lately?”
“I’m sure you know the answer to that already, Mr. Princeton.” Felicity answered, smugly.
Joel nodded. “Yeah, I know. I just wanted to hear from the woman herself who made it possible. You’ve become an inspiration to many. Some say you are the master of careers, whether entertainment or business, you excel.”
Felicity chuckled lightly as she had also heard the rumours. “So, I’ve heard.”

Joel continued, “And this dress,” he gestured to her attire, his eyes stopping at her neck briefly when he noticed something, but he ignored it and continued, “It’s a custom-made Vicky James design, right? You’re one lucky lady, Miss Orion, and absolutely stunning I must say.”
Felicity was impressed by his deductions, “Precisely,” she answered, taking another glass of champagne from a passing waiter before turning to Joel, “Thank you for the compliments. Now tell me what you really want?”
Felicity had never interacted with any of the Princetons before so it was weird that Joel was trying to make small talks with her.
Joel raised his hand in surrender with a slightly guilty expression on his face, “You’ve caught me. I was trying to flatter you.”
“And why is that?” She asked, intrigued.
Scratching the back of his head nervously, Joel answered, “Well, I don’t know if you know, but I’m into real estate, a very successful one at that, and a few of my clients wanted their houses painted with your new illuminating paints.”
Felicity’s brow furrowed, “What’s the problem? It’s in the market”
“But it’s not enough. I’m talking about a hundred mansions and twenty estates.” Joel answered, “There is not enough in the market to supply their demands.”
Felicity’s eyes flashed in realisation. The paints were newly launched and though they were very popular, only a few thousands buckets had been initially released so there wasn’t enough in circulation.
“You want us to supply you directly.” Felicity stated.
“Precisely,” Joel nodded with a nervous smile.
“Sure. Here’s my card,” Felicity handed it to him. She wasn’t about to turn down customers. They had a few million units in storage for the next release, so she could easily supply some to Joel. “I’ll link you with the head of production. Just give him the location and he’ll send them to your doorstep.”
Joel’s eyes brightened, “Really? Thank you very much, Miss Orion. How much do I owe you for this?”
“We will talk about the price later. It’s just a few thousand dollars” She shrugged.

“Nice.” Joel laughed, clearly relieved. “I’ll be in touch.” He walked away, a noticeable pep in his step – a man who truly enjoyed his work.
After Joel left, Felicity sighed in satisfaction before taking a sip of her drink. As she savoured the moment, a shadow loomed beside her, and a snide voice cut through the air.
“Are you trying to bag another sugar daddy? Leave the Princetons alone. They’re way out of your league, Georgia said scornfully.
